O/T - any Sambuca drinkers here?

If so, what's the difference between black and clear (white) Sambuca? I LOOOOOVE clear Sambuca, but I always see the black variety on the shelf next to it. What's the difference? Same flavor (anise), same alcohol content, same brand, same price.

They both taste the same to me....like licorice. I think the black one is supposed to be stronger (in taste).

Ask the bar for some shots of 1/3 Sambuca 1/3 Baileys 1/3 Kahula dash of amaretto (Caribbean B-52) and pass them around to the ladies around you. The next thing you know they'll have had about 15 of these fuckers and you're getting laid. They love them.

I'm not much of a drinker nowdays but Sambuca is one of my favorites. Never tried the black stuff...good question.It's also nice that few of my friends and family care for this drink so all the more for me. :drink:

Well the reason I asked is my neighbor was courteous enough to buy me a bottle today when he was at the store, but he (not knowing) bought black. I was wondering if I should take it back and exchange it or just try it. I have been drinking it tonight, it is OK but not as good as clear IMO. It is way more cough-syruppy. Still drinkable though.

And BTW, it's not black, it's actually dark purple, even though it's called black Sambuca.

Buca is some good stuff. I was never a big black licorice fan but I always liked the Buca.

I've drank so much of both in Vegas that I had a little sugar mustache above my mouth. It's usually my after dinner drink, but if I get started in Vegas, I'll drink it to the early hours of the morning! Never had a hangover though!

Yes, I drink it as a shot, but I am well aware of the coffee been tradition and its origins.

Long time ago, used to hit the "Sammy b's" all the time. Couple of my friends were into it.

Stuff gives me heartburn after a while. Good shot to take while you are drinking beer. Perfer the dark.

One gross thing though...if you leave the shot glass out overnight after using it, when you wake up in the morning the inside will be crusted with hardened sugar. :smoking:

Ya it is probably one of the most sugary hard LQ's out there.

Your original question, what is the difference. For some reason the dark tastes better to me and is less harsh going down.
