Carneal in action

Star Tribune

Longtime Twins broadcaster Herb Carneal died this morning of congestive heart failure, the team announced.

Carneal, 83, a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame, had spent six weeks in the hospital this winter battling a variety of ailments. He had been scheduled to work 36 home games this season.

Carneal joined the Twins in 1962, the team's second season in Minnesota. He had been calling home games only since the 1998 season. <TABLE class=nextprevious style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold; FONT-SIZE: small; MARGIN: 3px 0px 12px; FONT-FAMILY: arial,helvetica" cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=previouscell></TD><TD class=previouscell></TD><TD width="100%"></TD><TD class=nextcell></TD><TD class=nextcell></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

Agree Try, this is begining to suck before the start of the 2005 season PA annoucer Bob Casey dies was famous for the Kirbeeeeeeeeeeee Puckett intro and the Noooooooooo Smoking in the metrodome public service annoucement before each game.

Then last year we lose Kirby before the start of the 2006 season

And today Herb Carneal, they just said on the local news the 2007 season is in memory of Herb and players will wear a patch on their sleeves in his memory.

Back in the old days, here in Iowa we could only pick up Twins games on the radio. Herb and Halsey Hall did the games for the Twins. They were great to listen to.

RIP Herb.
