Just got the DVD in Netflix, despite taking lots of ridicule and razzing from anyone who found out I rented it. This is going down as Stallone's masterpiece. What an underrated film. It was emotional and sentimental in an understated, quiet, classy sort of way. The film was about life's lessons, perserverence, self-respect, and dealing with loss. I don't think I will ever forget the speech he gave his son. Honestly, the best father to son speech I have ever heard.

What a terrific homage to the character and, at the risk of sounding really sappy, the American sprirt.

Lets not go overboard here. It was a good flick. I went in hearing how great it was so my expectations were higher.

Actually I would rank them as follows:

1) Rocky III
2) Rocky IV
3) Rocky Balboa
4) Rocky I
5) Rocky II
6) Rocky V

I have heard on commercials pitching the home version that there is an alternate ending.I did see the big screen version with the first ending. Curious to hear what the other ending might be

I must be a decade or two older than you guys. I thought it was every bit as good as I and II. Maybe its a middle-aged, family man thing, but it really hit home for me. I could see how a single college student or fairly young person would find it boring and irrelevant.

Best part about II, is when he is trying to get the chickens and the coach is yelling at him. Funny stuff.

If I had to rank them it would be

II (nothing better than seeing Creed trying to get Rocky back on the ring for his own agenda after everything blew up on his face)
I (Classic)
III or IV (both are good, some parts are bad, some are great....)
and the rest

disclaimer, I havent seen the very last one

100% true. Rocky one is a classic, legend movie. Some other Rocky's were good but this was the MASTERPIECE...

I thought it blew, but fortunately not as bad as I thought it would blow.

Outstanding? Seriously, I wouldn't go that far.

The love story plot with that girl was one of the worst things I've ever seen in a movie.

Oh Rob, The Good SHeppard was mediocre. Good idea, boringass movie where every supposedly-unpredictable plot twist was predictable.

yeah i agree that love story with that chick was kinda lame. they barely had any dialogue. basically they were checking each other out and in their heads having wild intercourse.

Better than I thought it would be. The stuff with his son was really good. The training and fight footage was subpar compared to III and IV. Hard to compare Rocky I to the rest as it is such a classic but Rocky III will always be my favorite. Clubber Lang was the greatest villain in the history of cinema. I grew up wanting to be CLubber Lang
