Just got the DVD in Netflix, despite taking lots of ridicule and razzing from anyone who found out I rented it. This is going down as Stallone's masterpiece. What an underrated film. It was emotional and sentimental in an understated, quiet, classy sort of way. The film was about life's lessons, perserverence, self-respect, and dealing with loss. I don't think I will ever forget the speech he gave his son. Honestly, the best father to son speech I have ever heard.
What a terrific homage to the character and, at the risk of sounding really sappy, the American sprirt.
