Meche is #1 in the KC rotation? What the fuck? He was in Seattle last year and stunk the joint up. Okay, he was good at times, but #1. I'd take the Bo Sox tomorrow!

Any thoughts?

Gil Meche is 3-1 in his last 4 against BOS, and Schill is only 2-2 and has given up 11 ER in 12 1/3 IP in the last 2.

i personally am on the Sox even though I caught a bad line. Schilling had probably the best spring of any starter in the AL, and Meche was average at best, including a terrible last outing before this opener. Ortiz came to life very late in spring training but better late than never.

Lots of people on KC though.
It's a real bad line, interesting game, you got a Hall of Fame type pitcher, against 3 of the games super rookies.
Meche has had some success against the Red Sox, Papi creams him though. That's my problem if I backed KC in this spot. Papi in 15 at bats against Gil has gone yard 4 times. Papi alone can make a 3-2 Royal win into a 5-3 Royal loss.
Big fat no play here for me....... but if I can get +190 maybe 1/2 unit play

KC actually hit pretty well last year and are more loaded this year. Schilling has a ton of trouble pitching in KC and they hit him HARD last year more than once. My money is on KC at +155 earlier in the week.

"Kansas City Royals" and "loaded" are two terms I'd hesitate to use in the same sentence.

Have to remember many of these pitchers early in the season will only pitch 5-6 innings.

I wouldn't put money on KC's bullpen with my worst enemies money.

I expect to see a rejuvenated KC team this year. Likely won't show in standings in AL Central but they are going to play spoiler and be much improved this year. I actually expect a pumped up crowd in KC today for this one. Undecided on a side here but would not surprise me here if Royals came out and won on opening day.
