I doubt we'll see back to back championships for a long time. It's hard to win a 64 team tournament. Plus w/ the NBA it's so hard to keep good players in college.

There is also so much more paridy in college basketball because of early nba departures, so it's very impressive.

heres the thing.

what florida accomplished is VERY VERY impressive.

but i really dont even think they are the best team of the decade. this team isnt better than the carolina team from 2 years ago or the uconn team from 3 or 4 years ago.

so when you rank florida among the all-time greats, you are ranking what they've accomplished as opposed to the team itself.

i think it will be at least 10+ years before we see another b2b champ. and for good reason. florida accomplished a truly special feat. but i dont think they're an all time great team, per se.

Pretty damn impressive considering they won both championship games in easy fashion..

Blew out UCLA and basically blew out OSU.

yea but prodigy in all fairness you've questioned florida all season, and can tell you were never sold and doubted them big time...i enjoy your rightups and u have a great view on ur specialty conference, but i acually dont think they have had a chance to show how good they were...nobody really SERIOUSLY challenged them in the last 2 ncaa tourneys.

Florida could of won by 30+ and prodigy still would of put his twist on it.. I enjoy prodigy as much as anyone but he has a hard-on for Florida for some reason..

florida has been, and always will be, one of my favorite programs. i dont have any true 'favorite' teams, but florida is definitely one of the teams that most closely fits that description for me.

and i tend to be most critical of the programs i respect or favor most. this year, florida happened to fit the bill.

i love this florida team. hell, i love the program. but i still think they were better last year. and im not sure this is a truly 'great' (in terms of how they rank historically) teams.

they are very good. but there have been a lot of 'very good' ncaa tourney teams and champions.

what they accomplished is truly special.
and it will probably be awhile before its duplicated.

but i still think there were some better teams in recent history. in fact, i know there were. but what makes florida unique is that they went back to back and they deserve major props.

I 100% agree with this

I have as much respect for what UF has done as anyone. However, they were never a dominant team. Just a great team that was well experienced and well coached. Also happened to play in a time period where all the other good teams are led by FRESHMEN.

great team, just not an all time best

youre a moron, plain and simple, if you believe that.
this is truly turning comical considering how florida is one of the only program i truly consider myself a fan of.

Actually I take it back, they ARE an all time great....in terms of how we will remember them, myself included.

just do not think they would match up well with many of the other all time greats in a game

its simply that there is no way im going to let you come with something utterly preposterous, even if its on a public forum.

what you typed isnt even remotely true.
therefore, you are a moron if you think that.

its nothing personal.

Not very high. I've seen at least 8 better teams and I am 30. I bet FL. I was wrong. OSU was 10% from 3 and only down 6-10 with a few minutes left.

They won. Give them credit. But they are not even a discussion of top 25 teams ever.

This team is definitely one of the greats. They coasted through the regular season after everyone decided to come back and then dominated after cruising through the first couple rounds of the tourney. In the Final 4 they dominated 2 teams that were rock solid this season.

They had great guard play...plenty of perimeter shooters...solid post scoring...great rebounding...and one of the (if not the) best defenses in the nation. They had superstars that could take over the game if need be. This team really didn't have any weaknesses.

They were playing the entire season taking everyone's best shot. They were the returning champs (and they didn't have to come back to defend that) playing with arguably the most hated player in the country in Noah. They were targets and withstood everyone's best shot.

Don't let their boredom during meaningless games overshadow how great they were.

Just to name a few teams who would kill them:

UNC 2 years ago, Duke in 90 and 91 or 91 and 92, Duke a few years after that, the KY team with Mccartney, Walker, etc, several Kansas teasm, UNLV in 91, UNC in 94 and 95 or so (jameson, stackhouse) and again with Carter, Wallace or whatever the combos were, etc... Fab 5, etc, etc.

Good, but not great by any stretch. There was a day when elite NBA players played 3 years in college.

If you add their 3 consecutive (2 with this starting 5) SEC tournament championships then this team has to be considered one of the best. They are solid at all positions

sean, kil them?...seriously i can entertain thoughts that a few of those teams were better, but none of those teams blows out florida...bottom line....name me one other team that had talent such as noah, horford and richard down low....individually none will rank as great but as a group they do...thats what people dont get...they were a great "team".

I laugh at this post. Because I don't think those Duke teams would have beat them. I agree with the NC team. But the KY team you listed isn't even the best team they have had. The team that lost to Dwayne Wade's triple double, at the time was considered one of the greatest teams of all time...

And that is why I say Florida is definitely a top 10 team of all time. And the reason is that it is SO SO SO SO hard to win back to back titles. And I think they were better then the Duke team that did it. Sure I say that the UNC team would have beat them, but I would say Florida is higher on the all time great list. Because they did something the UNC team couldn't do, win twice in a row. That is such an amazing feat that I can't ignore it. They were balanced and may not have one NBA star on that team, and that is a great feat in its own sense. I personally think that they probably will not have one NBA star... but there balance and ability to play as a team is just on another level.
