Until tonight there was much speculation that Durant had moved into the first pick. Oden will be a great NBA center. Was impressed by him embracing a Fla player as he fouled him late in the game. This is a special player and I had Fla. Absolutely the best player on the floor.

Yeah that should silence everyone who thinks Durant should go #1. He took on three centers all night and they could not slow him down at all. Oden is the real deal!

durant is a big time player. but oden as the #1 pick is a no-brainer. very simply, when he avoids foul trouble he is as dominant a big man as there has been in 2 decades.

Yep. OSU shoots just 30% from 3 and they win. ANd I bet FL.

But....

Oden showed why I would take Durant number one... If he is getting tired in a college game, playing two halfs... then he really needs to work on conditioning... He has been in college for a year and still can't play a full college game, not to add what does he think the guys in the NBA are going to be worst defenders then the one in college. Sure he took on three centers but he was exhausted with about 6 minutes to go... I would take Durant for the reason that Oden just doesn't seem like he can play a hole game or run with the big guys in the NBA....

That being said... You shut me up tonight Oden, you are the best center in college and you had an amazing GAME! If you had any help at all you are a national champ... He has the chance to be an NBA superstar... but sitll has a lot to work on... But he played a great game and shut me up at the overrated talk... but I still take Durant ahead of him on my team.

Love Kevin Durant's game, but taking Oden first would be an easy decision for me. The guy plays his size, and can totally dominate a game defensively.

its a shame that they dont hand out MVP to anybody (including losers) cuz Oden would have gotten it for sure

Except if you draft Oden, he's going to only play five years before he retires at 42, whereas Durant is only 18 or 19.

The conditioning part will be easy. Easily the best to come out since Shaq.

Yeah, get this kid a sack of money and a conditioning trainer who is going to whoop his ass into shape and he'll be an All-Star in no time.

If OSU shoots 30% from 3 it doesnt mean they win. It would have changed the complexion of the game and any number of infinite possibilities could have happened.

You are making a huge mistake of discrediting Florida's ability to answer anything Ohio State did. If Ohio State made some 3's, what makes you think Florida wouldn't have answered?

If he isn't willing to condition in college when he is working for a contract. Why would he do it once he is giving a ton of money?

once again, you hit the nail on the head.

its overly simplistic to say "if ohio state makes 'x' amount of threes, then you can just just add that to their score and the game would have been closer'.

as you said, what WOULD change is the complexion of the game. the outcome still could have been florida by 9 or 10. do i think that would have happened? im not sure. gut feeling says no. that game was very evenly played and the two teams seemed to have an equal amount of 'spurts'. i think the line was accurate. florida is a better team than osu, and probably be a few baskets. and with a few made 3s when osu had clean looks, the game could have become a lot more execution-based and it could have been decided (spread-wise) in the final 0:30 or 1:00.

but on monday night, it just seemed like florida has every answer to an osu spurt. plenty of times, it was because florida is a damn good team (see: backbreaking 3s from various players, the sign of a champion). and sometimes, it was just plays that proved it was 'their night' (see: humphrey's 3 that was so off it clipped the backboard and landed right in (i think) richard's hands for a dunk. and then a few horford runners with the shot clock winding down).

More responsibilities in work/life and maturity. Remember Hibbard from Georgetown was the first player he ever faced that was bigger than him. He cannot coast anymore. When he gets to the NBA, he will be facing many players who are bigger - so he must adjust. Remember he played a 25-game schedule. Now he will play a 82+-gamer. Many rookies hit the wall about game 45-50.
