It is about 50 miles south of Cancun, its an all inclusive resort. My wife is interested in going and was wondering if anyone is familiar with this all inclusive resort. I think the real name is Catalonia Riviera de Maya?

Sounds like it's down by Playa del Carmen-which is quieter and more European:)massage:) than Cancun. If you're looking for someplace low key and away from the wild Cancun bar scene, you should love it.

There is an awesome Riu in Cancun. They are considered 5 star by Mexico standards-which is something that you have to understand going in. Unless you're talking seriously over the top nice, a 5 star in Mexico is a 3.5-4 star in the US. That's just the way it is.

Their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square.

Had a buddy get married down there a couple of years ago..........I was working, but it would have cost me $1500 for a couple of nights.
Looked good from the pics.

I got married at the Riu Palace in Playa del Carmen. The place was awesome.

I actually like Playa much more than Cancuun. Lots of stuff to do (including great bars) but without the rowdy college crowd.

Damn I must be getting old.
