Very impressive first start for Lilly...

I am expecting him to have a real fast start as the NL gets to know him...

Any Cub fan has to love the way Piniella walked out to the mound after Dempster walked Encarnacion...then threw ball one to Griffey...

Lou looked to be about halfway to the mound when he started cursing at Dempster...:aktion033

Nice to see a take charge manager like Piniella...and it was just the second game of the season and he was pissed.

Dempster should take notice that he will not get the same opportunity... to blow 9 saves this season.

Lilly will be ok for about a month. Cub fans are falling in love with this guy like he is going to win 18-20 games or something. Telling us how he won 15 games in the tough AL East last year. Great man, he had a good offense behind him. You are ignoring the fact that he had a "Great" year with a 4.31 ERA haha. He has a career ERA of 4.6 that is terrible.

The NL will adjust to him after a month, he is not a two starter or a three starter. He is a good back end guy, but Cubs fans are depending on him like he is a star.

Piniella is a freakin God! When he was in Seattle was prolly the only time I really followed baseball. Love that guy!

He is in the NL central...probably the worst division in all of baseball...

So he should do fine against those clubs...either way...

He was impressive TONIGHT under tough conditions...

I did not CORONATE Lilly in my post...

So it is interesting how you put words in my mouth...I never said he was a "star"...never claimed he was "great"...I did not "ignore" anything...

This thread was more about Piniella than anything else.

But I stand by what I did say...

24 of the Cubs' first 28 games are against the Central...bad division...Lilly is going to get off to a fast start.

Agreed...

Even if the Cubs season goes down the toilet this year...

You can bet that he will make it fun to watch...do not think he is going to just sit there scratching his ass like Baker did.
