Hamilton was considered the Next great thing in the game. He was talked up as the greatest player to ever play the game. And said that he couldn't flop and would dominate every aspect of the game.
In his short life before the drug addiction Hamilton had hit a ball 575 reportedly, thrown a ball from 400 feet away and one hopped home plate, and ran the second fastest sixty yard dash in a national baseball contest. He also threw 95 MPH from the mound.
Hamilton was considered the natural. His tools were perfect and there were no flaws. He could hit for power and average and was the best defensive outfielder in the minors IMO. He had blazing fast speed and great plate discipline.
Hamilton hit the minors and things spiraled. His friends were getting called up but he was still to young. His parents were not around like they always had been. Hamilton got involved with the wrong story and many know the story from there. He has been working his way out of rehab and has been out for a while. Hamilton was considered a great guy and an angel by his hometown people. He had always helped out in the community and was not a pompous asshole. It was a sad story what happened to the kid.
He tried to find a team for a few years afterwards. He was picked up by the Cubs and I almost killed myself. The Cubs let him go in the Rule 5 draft and the Reds picked him up.
Josh Hamilton showed up big time in spring hitting over .500 and made the major league squad. He is only 25 years old and IMO will go on to be a great MLB player. He may never be NEXT again but he may be. This was a great and genius pick up by the Reds. The kids upside is through the roof, and could easily turn out to be an allstar every season. Now that he has made the team I am really excited to see what this kid can do.

the good hometown kid is now covered in Tatoo's that he wishes weren't there and his life will never be the same, but that kid is back and could be just as good as before? But is it really possible he can be that great again, I guess we'll have to wait and see. But I am sure excited.
