Hamilton was considered the Next great thing in the game. He was talked up as the greatest player to ever play the game. And said that he couldn't flop and would dominate every aspect of the game.

In his short life before the drug addiction Hamilton had hit a ball 575 reportedly, thrown a ball from 400 feet away and one hopped home plate, and ran the second fastest sixty yard dash in a national baseball contest. He also threw 95 MPH from the mound.

Hamilton was considered the natural. His tools were perfect and there were no flaws. He could hit for power and average and was the best defensive outfielder in the minors IMO. He had blazing fast speed and great plate discipline.

Hamilton hit the minors and things spiraled. His friends were getting called up but he was still to young. His parents were not around like they always had been. Hamilton got involved with the wrong story and many know the story from there. He has been working his way out of rehab and has been out for a while. Hamilton was considered a great guy and an angel by his hometown people. He had always helped out in the community and was not a pompous asshole. It was a sad story what happened to the kid.

He tried to find a team for a few years afterwards. He was picked up by the Cubs and I almost killed myself. The Cubs let him go in the Rule 5 draft and the Reds picked him up.

Josh Hamilton showed up big time in spring hitting over .500 and made the major league squad. He is only 25 years old and IMO will go on to be a great MLB player. He may never be NEXT again but he may be. This was a great and genius pick up by the Reds. The kids upside is through the roof, and could easily turn out to be an allstar every season. Now that he has made the team I am really excited to see what this kid can do.

the good hometown kid is now covered in Tatoo's that he wishes weren't there and his life will never be the same, but that kid is back and could be just as good as before? But is it really possible he can be that great again, I guess we'll have to wait and see. But I am sure excited.

Hamilton will most likely be starting tomorrow. If you can watch his at bats do it. The kids swing is unreal and he plays like he is the natural. He is a great player in the making and has so much talent. Just hope he can get it all back. But he will put on a show if he can.

I'd love to see him succeed. Didn't drugs sideline him for a while? Guy has always had as much talent as anyone but just didn't have his head straight. He tore it up in spring ball though and anyone can go from no one to offensive superstar in hitter-friendly Cincy (cough Brandon Phillips cough).

I think he has a long career if his head is in the right place finally.

His head got side tracked by getting in with the wrong people. When he was in the minors he had a few injuries that sidelined him for an extended period of time. Many will say that getting into drugs is just dumb and you can't feel bad for him.

When I was talking to my buddy who plays ball at FSU the year he broke his wrist he was just tanked. Everyday he had to watch them out there and not play was so hard. That is when I started to understand.

He started getting tatoo's because he was bored it said. And the guys at the parlor found out about how much money he had and kind of exploited him and got him involved with drugs and alcohol. He showed up at his grandmas one night 40 pounds over weight and he had just attempted suicide. It is said since that night like 2 years ago he hasn't used once. And he has been clean and worked his way back. It is truly a great story.

It is a tough life being a pro athlete and especially when you have the expectations he had. I think we all underestimate how hard it truly is. And I congratulate him on his recovery and hope he still has all his skills. Because honestly not exaggerating, if he does he could be the best player in the MLB. And the Cinci GM said he couldn't pass up on him because he has organization changing baseball ability. So lets just wait and see, but regardless it is a great success and recovery story.

how many times have you masturbated to the thought of Hamilton sticking his dong up your ass while you learn how to lay down a perfect sacrifice bunt from Ozzie Guillen?
hahaha

Yeah cool man thanks for coming out. Once again hijacking a thread and saying pointless shit. Just because this is a great story you make a comment like that because I post it.

Oh but you were just joking don't I know that? I don't care if you were joking you ruin perfectly good threads all the time with your pointless comments and bullshit. This isn't the rubber room man, there is no need for this garbage here.

What I find humorous was this thread was reported, but a Moderator did nothing about it. But what is new, whenever you report one of these guys they never do shit.

Good post. This is for sure the "feel good story" of the year in all of sports. Of course, most of the more vocal posters here have so much anger and desire to flame they cant enjoy a sports story like this. But Im glad you posted it anyway. Im a huge Reds fan and personally Ive watched crack destroy the lives of a handful of friends I grew up with so Im really hoping for this guy to make it.

He started off on fire in spring training, hit a 500+ foot HR in the 1st or2nd game then cooled down but his raw ability is off the charts still even after a 3 year layoff.

Just one thing wrong with your post - how he was aquired. The Cubs actually sold thier pick in the rule 5 draft to the Reds before the draft for 100k. The Marlins made him available because they thought no one would pick him up. Ive read many many articles on this guy on the Reds forums and hes sure got a lot of support.

I actually love stories like this. Thanks for making presumptions though.

I wasnt really even referring to you , or this specific thread, just a comment on this forum in general , but thanks for making presumptions. Id hoped that wouldnt happen. I actually like your posts you usually make me laugh - and thats a good thing.

haha he acts like i have the mods in my back pocket.

doesn't take a very hard search to dig up the issues i've had with the mods in the past. Fortunately we are all on good terms (i hope), as i respect them tremendously for the work they do.

seriously themanej can't take a joke. I make one comment and i'm hijacking his thread. It's like i'm undermining his campaign to gain respect on this site by cracking jokes. I bet that's it. Sorry man, i'll try to contain myself in the future.
I just have too much time on my hands, the idle man wanders...and likes to crack jokes every now and again.

Dsethi you do it to every single thread I create it seems like. That shit was pointless and uncalled for. The funny thing is you always get pissed or defensive when people crack jokes at you or your brother. But you can do it to whoever you want. It is always a joke once someone gets sick of you antics. It gets olds man, you do it all the time. Your joke implied that I sweat this guy because I am rooting for him to succeed. I am not going to argue with you.

Hamilton, second at bat in his first start of the year. Two run home run ties the game...

He really has a chance to be special, maybe one of the best in the game. We'll have to wait and see but he looks damn good for not playing baseball in three years.

no actually i usually just make fun of people that make fun of me, instead of crying like you. It's all in jest, like I said. Stop taking yourself or this board so seriously.
It is always a joke. It's usually never serious. Except when you cry and take it seriously, which is 99% of the time. Sorry you can't take any jokes man. Real sorry
likie i said ill try to contain myself. i prob. won't be able to.

Kid gets the rally started tonight with a lead off double... Now Cincy winning... I don't know how the cincy manager can ever keep this guy off the field...

You can just tell he is really going to be a star.

Yeah, hopefully he doesn't go and fuck up his life again.

Bad luck for the Devil Rays. They deserve better. Good thing their OF is still stacked, but sucks that they had to waste a pick on Hamilton.
