Hamilton was considered the Next great thing in the game. He was talked up as the greatest player to ever play the game. And it was said that he couldn't flop and would dominate every aspect of the game.

In his short life before the drug addiction Hamilton had hit a ball 575 reportedly, thrown a ball from 400 feet away and one hopped home plate, and ran the second fastest sixty yard dash in a national baseball camp for high ranked recruits. He also threw 95 MPH from the mound.

Hamilton was considered the natural. His tools were perfect and there were no flaws. He could hit for power and average and was the best defensive outfielder in the minors IMO. He had blazing fast speed and great plate discipline.

Hamilton hit the minors and things spiraled. His friends were getting called up but he was still to young. His parents were not around like they always had been. Hamilton got involved with the wrong people and many know the story from there. Many believe the injuries and time away from the game because of them were a major factor of his drug addiction. He has been working his way out of rehab and has been out for a while. Hamilton was considered a great guy and an angel by his hometown people. He had always helped out in the community and was not a pompous asshole. It was a sad story what happened to the kid.

He tried to find a team for a few years afterwards. He was picked up by the Cubs and I almost killed myself. The Cubs let him go in the Rule 5 draft and the Reds picked him up.

Josh Hamilton showed up big time in spring hitting over .500 and made the major league squad. He is only 25 years old and IMO will go on to be a great MLB player. He may never be NEXT again but he may be. This was a great and genius pick up by the Reds. The kids upside is through the roof, and could easily turn out to be an allstar every season. Now that he has made the team I am really excited to see what this kid can do.

the good hometown kid is now covered in Tatoo's that he wishes weren't there and his life will never be the same, but that kid is back and could be just as good as before? But is it really possible he can be that great again, I guess we'll have to wait and see. But I am sure excited.

Hamilton will most likely be starting tomorrow. If you can watch his at bats do it. The kids swing is unreal and he plays like he is the natural. He is a great player in the making and has so much talent. Just hope he can get it all back. But he will put on a show if he can.

He is the Real life NATURAL

Thanks for the read, hope he does well in his debut

He could throw 95 from the mound and hit the ball 575, wow. Must be a strong ass kid.

What position will he be playing?

Just read the link you posted, I guess he already had his debut. The article didn't say what he did at the plate though?

diving catch by murton in left. Pinch hit, but tomorrow will be a fun game to watch. Him ability can be seen in his swing and approach. Even if he goes 0-4 he will still look good at the plate most likely.

IN a minor league game b4 the drug addiction he reportedly hit a ball over 575 feet. They say it may have been the furthest ball ever hit. They say in BP he routinely hits balls over 500 feet. And he threw 95 as a pitcher in high school. Kids tools are amazing.

Not only that but his spring HR was supposedly over 500 feet as well. Amazing power and speed. but we'll see.

Hope that he has overcome the demons that have haunted him and he can become successful enough to make a difference in others lives that may be heading down a similar path.

He was a Cub for all of about 45 minutes. The DRays let him go in the Rule 5 draft, the Cubs selected him, and no more than an hour later traded him to the Reds for cash considerations.

Yes I know, and it was a huge mistake by the Cubs. I know he was a risk but the Cubs needed an outfielder like him. His ability is unreal.

Teaze you ever see him play? Reading all the articles and watching a few of his games televised online, he was just amazing. Kid is going to be a star. And I would love to see him succeed, and you have to respect that he is very open about what happened to him. He doesn't hide from it, he talks about it openly and is willing to help others that may suffer from it.

He could be a great story.

why are you referring to a 25 year old as "kid" when you are only 20 yourself?

IDK sorry, just a use of a word. He is young in the baseball world. A lot of guys don't come up until that age but many would argue this kid should probably have 3 or 4 years under his belt. Once again it is sad that, that is all you take from that.

relax man. I enjoy the story, but when it is being told by a young un like yourself it made me think the guy was only 18 or 19. I had to look back to see that he was actually 25 which is still young, but not a kid.

IDK just a term I use often. But it does make sense what you are saying haha. Just speaking more in baseball terms. He is young and a kid in the baseball world. Gonna be switching back forth between the Reds game and the Sox game today just to catch his at bats.

He is from right down the street from me. The story goes, he shows up for batting practice with the Durham bulls, TB d'rays aaa team, and everything stopped when he stepped into the cage. He Proceeds to hit 4 balls completely out of the park, not bad for someone out of baseball for over a year.
Talk of mistakes, TB paid the cash, endured the pain waiting for Hamilton to recover. Then dumps him just prior to him being reinstated and making the bigs ????

I don't know how they are going to keep this kid out of the starting lineup... His pop and talent is absolutely incredible...

2-4 I think with a double, a HR. 1 RBI and 2 runs scored...

This kid has the talent to be one of the best in the game and he looks so damn natural at the plate.
