Damn, just when K-State had something going he jets back to the Big East. Feel for guys like Walker and Beasley who were big time recruits that wanted to take K-State bball to the top for the years to come.

Walker is screwed, Beasley isn't.

Beasley can play at WVU next year because KSU will give him his release.

It's not like WVU is THAT much better than K-State. If this were Kentucky knocking on Huggin's door that would be one thing, but it isn't. Bitchmade move by Huggy.

i don't understand why he did this.

I know he's a Big East guy but I'd think it'd be much easier for him to be perennial power in the Big 12 than in the BIg East...

It was the ONLY job that could have lured him ... he was born in Morgantown, Academic All-American at WVU and first coaching job at WVU.

He also has his family and home in West Virginia.. probably a much bigger factor in his decision.

addict:

as mentioned, its not about being a 'better' job. its about going back to his roots. this was always the job he wanted.

i have to be honest, im a huge huggins fan. but its still kind of a BS move to jump after just one year. i know wvu came open suddenly, but its still kinda shitty. he should have stayed out of bball until the right job opened for him.

WVU athletics is head and toe above Kansas State. Both basketball and football will dedicate as much money as it takes to win. The facilities there are top notch. The alumni support and local support is among the best in the nation.

its going to be funny to watch huggins try to compete with this wvu team in his first year.

the type of player beilein recruits
vs
the type of player huggins recruits
couldnt be more different. this is going to be a very unathletic bob huggins basketball team for a year or two. high basketball IQs, but not the kind of player huggins normally puts out on the floor.

I was thinking the exact same thing. You couldn't find two more different "ideal player" opinions than Beilein and Huggins.

Unless he has a monster recruiting class (he has no issues with bringing in JC guys), this is going to be funny.

Huggins belongs in the Big East, better basketball conference. Big 12 has been a joke of a conference in basketball for a long time--this probably confirms it.

Beasley will receive his release and go to West Virginia probably. Kansas State could hire Delonte Hill and that may entice Beasley to stay, but he said after the McDonald's game it was his life long dream to play for Huggins.

Sucks for kstate, really does. If any job was gonna get hugs though was wvu, he almost bolted cincy in a time where nobody would of ever thought possiable when it opened up.

In hindsight, he should of sat out another year and then took the wvu job, of course he didnt know it would open...

KState fans are crushed around here. Talk radio is just going nuts. They had the press conference on with the AD and President, and they are shockedand deflated. Gotta be tough to be a KSU fan right now. To get him for just one year, and then gone. They will never get that type of coach again. Apparently after he was hired, there was a hold up in his contract that dragged on and it was over the buy-out clause. Only $100,000. Compare that to Beilein's 2.5 mil. I'm sad to see him leave the area. But understand going home. Not only that, a better basketball conference.

He played them like a 12 string guitar.

That is a reason I despise coaches like Huggins who show no loyalty ... they play on your emotions and want you to live and die by the team but they're always looking ONLY for themselves.

On the other hand, a coach like Belichick, and Dungy are people we should really respect. They are loyal and do not even listen to other offers.
