OT: Ever thought about leaving something in the walls of your house?

I have, many times. Typing a letter explaining the ups and downs of my life for some stranger to read. Stating the bonus whoring, the partying, etc....

I rehabed a house once and found an old shot gun of some sort, it was in 7 pieces, in 7 different parts of the house. I think it may have been used in a murder of some sort.

I also found a bunch of post cards, detailing peoples lives and shit, cool shit I tell you. RX(no pun intended) bottles and all kinds of stuff.

There is interesting things to be found in historic housing. I have threw some change behind walls and things like that, but nothing like postcards, or explaining events or what not.

How cool would it be, say 100 years from now to read about personal experiences about 911 and things like that?

I've been up for some time, baking like a mad man, so if this doenst make sense, disregard.....

There was a story a few years back on one of the big Internet antique sites, I forgot which one. They had a section where people would relate their experiences with collectibles and antiques.

One guy told as to how he was at a a flea market and saw a dust encrusted old beer can. The seller explained that he was in contruction and they had just knocked down this old house, and he found the can inside the walls.

The buyer asked the guy how much he wanted, and the seller said two dollars. So the buyer near broke his arm to get the money out.

He took it home and cleaned it up. Once clean, it was perfect, no dents, all the original paint intact.

I forgot the name of the beer (I have the story around here somewhere) but it was from the 1930s, and was the original, experimental pull tab can.

The new owner put it on eBay where it sold for well over $3000. Nice return.

There are a lot of beer collectors out there. The field is called breweriana.
If you are old enough to remember the Miss Rheingold contests in New York in the late 50s or early to mid 60s, you may recall that they would put all six finalists of a six pack, one on each can.

An empty sixpack with the Miss Rheingold gals is nowadays worth from $1500 to $2000.

And speakin' of ebay, I gotta go list! Anything to delay that boring biz.

I know an old bookie that had about 750 K stashed behind some walls in his house and when the FBI caught him they went in with some kind of meters and started to chop down the walls when the meters went off and BAM picked up 750 K !! It was like that old song by Dep Leppard When the walls came tumbling down.

One of by good friends had a house built. Moved in and during the summer his wife smelled something bad one day.
They went through the whole house couldn't find the source.
Finally he went up in the attic, and found one of the workers had taken a crap in a bag and put it in the wall, hence the source of the foul odor in the sweltering summer.

redid my bathroom in 2002,and left 2 empty beer bottles and some dollar bills in the wall.

My last house I flipped I found an old computer and a couple heroin needles in this little area above the dining room. I tried re-using the needles but they weren't sharp enough to puncture my skin.
