LOL Not my type of music. It was ok though. He played alot of songs that I've never heard. We had a suite for this event. It was very high up. We were right at the top (looked threw the banners) to see the stage. I just think he has had better days.

Clapton was never the same after he took his hiadous and kicked the horse.

Came back with 461 Ocean Blvd which was actually a great album but he kept that theme for all the rest of life.

To hell with love songs lets do some hard rocking.

Once we were at the guaitar center and this kid i worked with was looking at the Clapton music sheets and i said the hell with that fu fu shit get the ones where he has long hair.

Years ago saw Eric Clapton playing with Roger Waters at the Brendan Byrne Arena in NJ. The second half of the show was "The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking," which wasn't so hot. But the first half was all Pink Floyd classics with Clapton playing the David Gilmour role.

That was pretty awesome. Wish I had a bootleg of that.

Give it a break. Clapton is an icon. He has more talent in one of his farts than you or me could muster on our best days. You guys give a good laugh though...

I saw Clapton at the MGM Grand in Vegas last month. Also a bit disappointed since he didn't play Lay Down Sally, Forever Man, or Promises but of course everyone went nuts over the overplayed and commercial Layla and Cocaine.

Just like all the 60+ rockers I've seen in concert, it looked like he was just goin' through the motions, not putting too much heart or soul into it, thinkin' more about the paycheck. Makes sense, though. It's hard to get into it every single day for 40 years.

He also dressed like a bum, which I thought was cool. They wouldn't have let him in to a lot of restaurants looking like that.

He's got about 10 guys in his band and they all got a good amount of air time and had a lot of talent. His opening act was pretty good too, so all in all a decent experience.

Name one bit of influential piece of music since the 461 Oceanside Blvd album.

I will say that this is the hot concert in Chicago this summer and not the Police at Wrigley. Sold out in about 15 minutes. Supposedly he is organizing a Blind Faith reunion with Winwood for this show:

Day-Long Festival To Feature Legendary Music And Collaborations Including:

crossroadsguitarfestival.gif
Credited throughout his career with creating super sounds in super groups, the ultimate Clapton collaboration will take place July 28, 2007 when he gathers the past, present and future of guitar music onto one stage for an incredible full day musical event. Announced today, the second Crossroads Guitar Festival, scheduled for July 28, 2007 at Toyota Park in Chicago, will be a cornerstone of this year's summer music festival season. Profits from the Festival will benefit The Crossroads Centre in Antigua, a treatment and education facility founded by Clapton for chemically dependent persons.
Since its inception, Clapton's vision for the Crossroads Guitar Festival has been to create an event where his friends and contemporaries can have fun and jam together for the benefit of a good cause. This year's Festival will feature a full day of musical performances with once-in-a-lifetime guitar collaborations. Known as pioneers in their field, the roster of artists spans old and new, from BB King to John Mayer (anticipated guest list below). The audience can expect unrivaled entertainment, brilliant guitar work, surprise guests and impromptu jams that are the hallmarks of these performers.
The first Crossroads Guitar Festival, in June 2004 at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, was an unprecedented collection of guitar icons from blues, rock and contemporary music. The sold-out show was chronicled in a 2-disc DVD that has since gone on to become one of the world's top-selling music DVD's, recently achieving the 8x platinum mark in the United States alone.

"The Crossroads Festival is the realization of a dream for me, to gather a group of amazingly talented musicians to perform on one stage," said Clapton. "The Crossroads performers are all musicians I admire and respect."

Saw Clapton at the Boston Garden in 1975 ("I shot the sherriff" was out at the time). He was burned out and a bit of has-been even then.

I did not realize that just being a great writer and performer was not good enough. Apparently you must also be "influential" and wear the right clothes. Carry on.

Clapton was a guitar god in the 60's and early 70's. Many, many people still talk about him in terms of still being that same guy - and he's not.
