Boxing question...Why dont we see 15 rounders anymore?

Last night espn 2 provided a rare treat on late night TV. Ray "Boom Boom" Mancinni in a 15 round war with (damn, I forget the other guys name) from about 15-20 years ago...It was an amazing bout. Which raises my question, if athletes are supossedly so superior at this day and age with suplimental help and technology as training tools, why are we only seeing at most a 12 round bout?

15 rounds are not allowed anymore. outlawed them maybe 15 years ago.

I think soon after the Boom Boom Mancini Duk ku Kim fight in which Kim Died late in that fight had something to do with it. That was an awesome fight until it ended tragically.

They restricted the fights to 12 rounds for safety reasons (as if getting pounded in the early rounds wasn't harmful enough). Fighters are tired and slower in the late rounds (13-15) so big power shots could do more serious damage as the reaction speed isn't there.

Having said that, who can forget Leonard-Hearns going 14?

Too bad Leonard-Hagler was 12 rounds and in a 20 ft ring. Smaller ring and longer fight, who knows what would have happened.

Livingston Bramble was the opponent we watched last night.

I was dissapionted when they changed from 15 to 12 but now I wonder what took them so long to ruduce the length of these fights.

I remember some of these heavy wieghts barley able to lift thier arms in the latter round and the punches were love taps was sometimes rather funny.

That and Ali is a vegetable,but he should of walked away from the ring 10 yaers earlier than he did.
