Another historical trend: Rangers haven't started 0-4 since 1991

Had great success last night fading the Angels because they hadn't started 4-0 since 1970.... and took the Giants because they hadn't started 0-3 since 1984. Hard to ignore historical trends like those.

But what about this horrible Rangers team? They looked awful against the Angels, going 2-19 with RISP. Getting outscored 17-7 and outhit 33-15. But they haven't started 0-4 in 15 season.....

Getting the Red Sox at -109 (probably + by game time) seems like great value.... considering their bats woke up the last two games. But the only thing that worries me is Wakefield. He was hit hard in Texas last season. Plus the Red Sox have not faced Tejada before.

Take the better team with a veteran pitcher.... or the historical trend which hasn't been wrong in 15 season. Hmmmmm........

What are your thoughts?

A .500 team would only start 0-4 6.25% of the time. That'd be once every 16 years...and 1991 was 16 years ago. In other words, that trend is insignificant.

I'm on Boston personally, but I don't want to tell you what to play. I just want to point out that the 0-4 thing isn't really a special trend.

You may be right turnip. Since starting 0-4 in 1991, Rangers began the season 0-3 only one other time (2002). Started the season 0-2 twice.

Red Sox now -105...... damn still on the fence. Wakefield sucks but Tejada is a huge question mark. Really hoping Red Sox win today because I love Texas to win with Millwood tomorrow. But changing mind and going with Texas.... hard to ignore history. If they lose going big on Millwood tomorrow.

I have never understood why people would think anything that happened over the last 15 years would have any influence on what happens when the players take the field today.

well its similar to the self-fulfilling prophecy idea. A player notices the trend, decides to bet on it, and when it hits (by chance), the player is reinforced that the reason it came through was because of the trend.

The trend is 3-0 in the past 17 hours.

Historical trends are a diamond in the rough.... unlike other trendy trends that have come and gone, they withstand the test of time. Why? I don't know..... but as they say: why ask why? More money in my piggy.

If the Angels start off 3-0 next season, you better believe I'll bet against them again. Why? Don't know, don't care.... all I know is it's been $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for the past 37 years.

A "trend" that has been proven for over 70 years combined..... 3-0.

Oh, I remember this idiot.... THE biggest LOSER and LIAR on TheRX.

Warned this fool not to bet Lakers ML because they would lose to the Spurs. But wouldn't listen.... then started celebrating just before Finley drills the DAGGER. And wouldn't you know it, the LIAR was posting that he had Lakers + pts seconds after the ball went through the net. What a CLOWN. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
