Winter Scenery Proves MLB Season Too Long

Flicking the channels around to the different ball games and the various parks, I couldn't help but think, as I stopped on the Indians channel, that what I was seeing was a perfect example to back up the debate that the MLB season is too damm long. They actually had to delay this game in the 5th inning because the snow had accumulated to the point where the field was a sea of white as opposed to the traditional green. Field crews took over the game and had to blow the entire outfield clear of the fallen snow while the infield was dusted in the same fashion. This debate has been going on for years and tonight was a perfect example as to why they don't need a season which includes 162 games in addition to the postseason. There is no reason in hell why Major League Baseball can't shave 12 games of the schedule and thus eliminate two weeks in the season. I mean who would actually care or even miss 12 games for that matter. The scene in Cleveland is a complete joke and the comments made by the announcers doing the Tigers games in KC certainly add to the mockery of this ridiculous sports schedule. Maybe if they forced the MLB brass to hold their annual winter meetings in the outfield of the Jake in mid January, the 162 -game schedule might be shaved somewhat. :ohno:

Whos to say that the weather in two weeks isnt as cold as it is now? After March 21st it is still considered spring.

What they could do is have some of the first games in domes or some of the southern cities to start off (Miami, Atlanta, Arlington, TX; etc)

The current weather system is kind of an odd one-and a BIG one.

...and don't even start with the "Global warming is BS" crap over a 2-4 day weather pattern

All I have is a little ice & frozen drizzle. Come on, at least give me a good dump if it's going to be this shitty out!.

Irregardless of where they play, a 162-game schedule makes for too long of a regular season in any sport, let alone one which resembles the speed of a snail on most days. :smoking:

At the very least MLB should schedule all April games played in the Northeast and Midwest for the afternoon.

MLB season is too long, playoff games being played in weather like we're seeing this weekend, with added playoff layers they should have gone back to 154 games. JMO PS. NBA should have 64 reg season games and 8 teams in the playoffs and be over by May 1, something about watching NBA finals in June with the AC on doesn't make sensde to me. GL Toto
