question about stanley cup

i dont follow hockey much... i use to watch it all the time when it use to be on ESPN/ESPN2... but now that its not, I have lost interest in it until the playoffs...

so my question is..

what do they do with the stanley cup when they run out of room to engrave all the names on it? does it go to the hockey hall of fame and they just make a new one? :icon_conf

They add to the Stanley Cup as needed....the cup started out much smaller , over time its grown with the names of the winners.

ive always wondered why a city like Nashville got an NHL team... but Cleveland did not

Cleveland used to have an NHL team (for a season) called the "Cleveland Barons"

I believe they merged with the previous Minnesota franchise.

But they "retire" the larger rings to the HOF, no? It's not like the trophy will become a log cabin sized thing in another 100 years.

Well appears nobody knows the truth.. except me! They take the "ring" off the bottom of the previous winners and flatten it out, then put it on the wall in main room in the Hall of Fame in Toronto. They then put a blank piece of metal ring on. They just took a ring off I believe this year. If you haven't been to the Hall of fame, I highly recommend it. It is an amazing experience.
