Man, Papelbon threw some SMOKE to save
the Boston game just now. Anyone see that?

He blew everything by Texas and made them look
deer-eyed.

He did that most of last year too. He is a big difference for the Red Sox. He is one of our top 5 players for sure. WIthout him the Sox would be in trouble.

Good move to reinstate him as closer...never understood that nonsense move.

The trade off for now is Taveras starting ,which cannot and will not last.

He looked beyond awesome. I am a huge Trevor Hoffman fan, but I'll take Papelbon with my $$$ on the line over Hoffman right now. What electric stuff he had.

I'm a Papelbon fan for sure and he was dominant tonight. They could not catch up to his fastball at all. Man it was fun to watch.

As good as Papelbon looked, Pineiro looked twice as bad. I know Timlin will be the set-up man when healthy, but they need a better bridge from starter to closer.

Pinero couldn't hit the strike zone. It was awful to watch. He was all over the place. I don't know who they have in middle relieft but it seems to be their weak point this year. They can't have Papelbon come in the 8th often.

Remember when he used to be the hottest pitcher in baseball? He was such a great starter for a short while there. He had a crazy sick low ERA. like 1.80 or something.

He needs to learn one more pitch IMO to become a starter.
He doesn't want to start.
His passion is closing.
Financially, starting is where the big $$ is, he doesn't care amout money.
If I was a Red Sox fan, I'd also want him in the rotation, when my St. John's home boy Hansen is ready.
Ready is a ML closer in waiting.

Congrats on career save 312

Mario Hollands (2-1) pitched two scoreless innings, and Jonathan Papelbon pitched the ninth for his 27th save in 30 chances.
