Al is cheap, he doesn't want to spend the $$$ that the # 1 pick will cost.

Looks like he may trade down. Which may makes sense for Detroit (who are openly trying to trade down, but asking price is high) which needs a lot of players fast. But the Raiders have a good defense, they need a QB.

You'd think they'd already be in open negotiatons with Russell, the LSU qb. But instead they are working out the second wave of qbs, those who will be available in rounds 2-4.

They are also talking a about taking the G Tech WR Johnson. Who's going to throw to him? It sounds like trade-down advertising.

Al was a winner years ago. Now put the "loser" tag on the old guy.

He is smart, NFL doesnt need another overrated running qb like Michelle Vick!

I think Russell should be a LB not a QB

Russell could be more like Vince Young.

But it's doubful if Davis is even going to take WR Johnson.

Al don't have to take no stinkin' number one draft pick. He da Raider Big Guy, he got Pride and Poise. And stinkin' W/L record in recent years.

Cause hes black he has to run. On Madden alone being black give you a few more points on speed.

The guy can throw a bullet 60 yds from his KNEES !!!!!! He can throw a hail mary from the opposite endzone....in his 1st year he would throw to players 10 yds away on a crossing route and knock em down....
He's nowhere close to a vick or even a vince young in the speed department but at 260 he's kinda hard to bring down 1 on 1....any coach tells him to run should be fired promptly......

I hope they have the good sense to trade down and take Peterson because Jordan should never be a starting RB anywhere outside of CFL/AFL. Plus there are good QBs available in the later rounds: Kolb, Palmer and Moore.

I really do not understand some experts saying Raiders should draft CJ.... so you draft him in hopes of him becoming the next Randy Moss... but they already have Randy Moss!!!!!!! So what the hell would be the damn point??????

Raiders need help at RB, OL and QB.... WR is the least of their problems.

Peterson's negs are injury probs.

Russell is their best bet. I like the BYU qb in the second round, but they shouldn't pass on the the LSU qb. There are equally good rbs available in second round.

Davis just doesn't want to spend the money on a # 1 overall. I think he'll trade down.

this is the same organization that really thought Aaron Brooks and Art Shell were the answers last year. Does anything surprise you?

This is a smart move by the Raiders.

Taking Russell with the #1 pick is a huge gamble and you would need to pay him big money on top of that. No way would I draft him. This is smart and I didn't think the Raiders were ever interested in Russell to begin with. I think the media has built Russell up to the point that everybody thinks he's the obvious choice for the #1 pick. I say this because almost all the N.F.L. analysts are saying taking Russell is a big risk.

Being able to throw a football 60 yards from your knees doesn't make you a good QB. Nothing Russell has done has shonw me he will be a good N.F.L. QB. What happens when he has to change a play at the line? What happens when he is on his back 15 times a game? We already know the answer to that question because when they played Auburn or any other big school with a pass rush Russell didn't do all that good.

To me this Russell is just a media star who hasn't proved anything yet. Even at the college level he didn't prove anything. This choice is a complete gamble and a huge 1.

His game against Notre Dame didn't mean a thing because Notre Dame has no pass rush at all and can't beat any top 10 team that has great offense and defensive lines. Notre Dame can't compete with the major Colleges and it showed against U.S.C., Michigan, and L.S.U.

Russell never got touched by the Notre Dame defense and I don't think Russell had anything to do with it. That game means nothing except just like Troy Smith or Drew Stanton what it means is if you block for them they can look really good. But we all know that's not what happens in the N.F.L. In the N.F.L. all the QB's have to escape constant pressure. How good will Russell be when he has to run for his life just to make a 10 yard pass?

I would never take him with any 1st round pick, let alone the first pick in the whole draft.

Al Davis isn't going for it and I think that's a smart move. Don't get tricked into this Russell hype.

Calvin Johnson is by far the #1 player in the Draft.

I know Raiders need a QB bad but Walter can still challenge who ever comes in at QB for the starting spot.

Also The Bucs want Calvin bad they might make a hell of a trade to get him. Also Falcons owner has let it be known that he will do whatever it take's to get the local GA boy Calvin to team him up with Vick.

AL Davis know what he is doing and he will make the right choice IMO.

This is my Top 7players in the draft.

1. Calvin Johnson WR
2. Adrian Peterson RB
3. Brady Quinn QB
4. Amboi Okoye DT<<-- 19yrs old
5. Landry Safety
6. J. Russell QB
7. Gaines Adams DE

Im a Raider fan and i would be happy with Calvin , AD , Quinn or Russell

No matter who is at QB for Oakland, they will be horrible. One step drops before being sacked don't work and Russell would get killed back there. They need to start at the offensive line. A good offensive line makes an average QB look very good...

Yeah, that's silly. Russell is clearly the best QB in the draft by far. He's got a cannon for an arm and has numerous rushes over 10 yds. Runs 4.8 sec in the 40 yd. Rushed for over 400 yds in HS as a senior, which shows he can be mobil if need be. He's also a big time QB, leading his team to over 15 come from behind wins.

But the QB with the undeserved hype is Brady Quinn. Has this guy ever won a big game in his life? 0-fer in bowls.... 0-4 vs. USC... well he was 4-0 vs. Navy. Hahahahahahahahaha!

He is by far the worst big game QB I've ever seen. Couldn't hit ocean if he were only 5yards away. Has Rick Mirer written all over him. He is the gAy-Rod of QBs. Hahahahahahahahaha!
