Anyone know as the show has to be at close to an all time high for it's popularity and has a few good years left in it, though after watching some of the repeats on A and E I think they were better back a few years ago but still really good right now.

I assume one of the main characters wants out. What is the rumor or story behind this?

Not enough money to go around and make everyone happy. Kind of like winning a Super Bowl. Everyone wants more money after hitting the big time.

It only needed to be 4 seasons but just keeps getting stretched out with more filler.

Yes the shows Writer/Director David Chase only wanted 5 years. And he strecthed it out beyond that.. He said the storyline would suffer if he prolonged it more than that. He was right last years Soprano's was awful.. So to answer your question Its the storyline.

is there a fact/reason behind it is my main question.

In all of his interviews for these last nine...David Chase says that he is done. I have also read that he felt this same way after season two and three...but changed his mind each time.

So I think the main reason that this is final this time is the star of the show...James Gandolfini is done. He has said that he does not want to play this role any longer and that it was time. Jimmy has his own production company and has a deal w/HBO. So he is going to do his own thing...

There is also speculation that IF Chase does make a movie...they will have to re-cast for Gandolfini. Not sure how well that would work.

Read the cover story from Vanity Fair/Esquire, I forget which. David Chase is the Bill Murray looking guy that is not one of the cast members.

It started to get repetitive after Season 4, IMO. It's still tons better than most shows, but I agree that it's more than time to wrap it up.

What a great series. Tons of brilliant scenes, and a lot of them are really subtle/anecdotal. One that instantly comes to mind is when Tony weighs himself - it lasts well over a minute, it's completely silent yet it's anything BUT dead air. He first steps on the scale fully clothed, looks down at the scale, steps down, removes his belt, steps back on, looks down, steps down, removes his pants, steps back on, looks down, then lets out a sigh, like "meh, what can you do?".

I drove past the "Bada Bing's" last night on the way home from a friend's house. The parking lot was jammed packed. Can't imagine the people there were that happy with last night's episode.

It was average.

Yeah there is long speculation that the movie is pending.

But if so....will it be a prequel or will it take off from the end of these final episodes?

Cause if its from the end of the season, then the predicted demise of Tony would force it to be a prequel(unless the demise is prison instead of death)...A Sopranos movie w/o Tony:missingte
