I know it is early but this team has a lot of holes. They thought that overpaying for mediocre talent would put them over the hump but that is not how baseball works.
It is funny that ever since the Yankees started spending 2 times the money that anyone else has spent, they have won zero titles. The Cubs lack a pitching staff and still have no closer. There lineup looks dangerous but does not have a guy that can hit behind Soriano and Alfonso does not fit in there lineup. They don't need a power hitting lead off hitter they need a lead off hitter to get on base 37-40% of the time. One thing I learned in the game of baseball is that a great lead off hitter may be the most important guy on a team.
Howry is a solid but not great guy out of the bullpen and they really just don't have the complete team. There offense is not good enough to overcome there defensive and pitching deficiencies. The season is not over but the Cubs look to be the same old team. If Rich Hill doesn't win 16+ the Cubs just flat out don't have a chance. They need to take advantage of Lilly before the league figures him out and can't lose games like this, because these are the types of games this team always loses.
