How about those Braves?

Granted it's only a week into the season, but the Braves have looked mighty impressive in my opinion. Considering they've played 2 series against division rivals, both of whom were/are predicted by almost everyone to finish ahead of ATL in the NL East, swept one (away from home no less) and took 2 of 3 in the other, I think they're looking nice.

Also not getting a whole lot of love around here or from the media types, which in my opinion is a good thing. Flying way under the radar given they're a game above every other team in the league.

And, mind you, all this is happening with Chipper hitting under .220 going into tonight's game, Andruw under .190 both with no HRs and 1 RBI between them. You know they're going to heat up, and if the rest of the team (particularly the pitching) stays solid, this could get very interesting for my Braves...

25/1 for Braves to win the World Series at Bodog and it's only 6/1 for the National Pennant. Good price still!!

the reason they have been and are going to continue to be good is the bullpen. gonzalez is damn near unhittable, soriano is badass, and fatty is closing. hell the starters only need to pitch 6 innings. this bullpen really shortens the game.

They are playing good ball:

And are on the Mets heels. Nice to see a race in the NL east.

Indeed...of course, Chipper is now out for some time but Andruw is heating up. I really see this team going out and getting another arm at or before the deadline, whether it's a reliever to replace Mike Gonzalez or a desperately needed starter, and if they do do that and Chipper comes back healthy while Andruw is hitting, this team could be a force to be reckoned with...
