Why did Royals beat Blue Jays on Wed 10th?

I'm new to both baseball and baseball betting but I'm trying to figure it out!

Can someone help me out to what possible warning signs were present yesterday that could indicate Royals winning - their abysmal road record, complete lack of batting power, no scoring, shaky bullpen, pitcher with anxiety disorder?

With such data Toronto looked like a steal.

What's the catch if there is one?
Who could have seen Kansas winning and why?

Thanks for helping a newbie!

Greinke looks to be back and better than ever. He pitched very well against Dice K and looked great again last night. Plus Josh Towers sucks. With a favorable moneyline +155 and a better starting pitcher in Greinke, you take the dog. You have to bet the pitchers in baseball.

The above stats wouldn't leave you siding with Greinke!
Plus, what good is pitching if you can't score at all and lose 2 out of 3 games on the road - that alone should be +200?

No disrespect intended, but you probably should do more research on your selections. Basing your play on pitching performances from 2 years ago on just 2 games each is not solid analysis. Looking closer you would find that Greinke, through spring and his first outing of the year, looks to be regaining the form that made him a first round draft pick (#6 overall). He has always had good stuff, however he has battled depression and social anxiety disorder and seems to be overcoming that. I recommend keeping an eye on him throughout the season. Towers, on the other hand, is coming off a 2-10 season with an 8.42 era. While he did look decent in the spring, he had not pitched in around 10 days. Furthermore, the Royals have struggled so far offensively, but much of that could be attributed to the fact that they have faced some of the best starters in the American League (i.e. Daisuke, Beckett, Verlander, etc.). The Royals will be a lot more competitive in '07 then in years past and should not be looked at as an automatic fade. GL.

Okay here is the deal no matter what anyone says.

After last night's lineup was released, I can't help but think that our GM JP Ricciardi will take note of this game and use it as a basis point when he wants to fire John Gibbons.

Gibbons put out a horrendous lineup last night (I lost about 10k on the game but bet before I saw lineups, never again). The Jays had won three straight games with a good looking lineup (chemistry wise) and for no apparent reason, Gibbons decided to sit 3-4 regulars and put in all the bench guys. He switched almost the entire infield (did you notice the 4-5 errors?) and put Alex Rios in the leadoff spot. In other words, Gibbons figured the Jays could easily win the game no matter who they sent out there. FUCKIN RIDICULOUS!

Of all games to send out a bush league lineup, Gibbons chose the one where his shakiest pitcher was making his first start of the year. Josh Towers is coming off a horrendous 1-10 season and Gibbons should have had all the regulars in to try and get him a condifidence building win. It is not acceptable to switch around your entire lineup and start guys like Jason Smith, Jason Phillips and Matt Stairs. Although they weren't the reason for the loss, the team chemistry was as fucked up as can be and Gibbons should be reprimanded for this garbage.

Also, the Jays have been missing out on the playoffs for the last 14 years and Ted Rogers has opened up the budget to let these guys do what they want. The key to making the playoffs was to take the division lead early and try to hang on all year. Coming into this game, the Jays had a 1 game lead over Boston that was cut to 0.5 when the Sox beat the Mariners in an afternoon game. That alone should have been enough motivation for Gibbons to field the best possible lineup. UNREAL!

I don't think Gibbons is going to last long pulling stunts like this...FIRE THAT IDIOT!

Having said that, the Jays are killer against Lefties and coming off that loss, you can bet everything you have on them winning by two runs tonight.

Interesting analysis Flava. I would agree that the Blue Jays are the play today. De La Rosa looked good his last start, but i'm not overly confident in him putting together another solid performance, especially on the road vs. that lineup. That willl leave it in the hands of the Royals bullpen, which is not reliable, to say the least. GL today.

There should be no difference between Game 1 of this series and the game tonight. Another lefty, Jays feast on lefties at home and early appearance by the bullpen. Losing tonight is not an option for the Jays. GL

Josh Towers sucks.

Good post by MistaFlava

He is not a Burnett or a Halladay but with the kind of power the Jays have in this lineup, his effort yesterday could be good enough for a 15 win season. He tossed 83 pitches, 63 of them were strikes and he allowed only 3 ER's while striking out six guys. I am not a fan of Josh Towers but I just don't understand the logic of a manager to pick that particular game to send out such a weak lineup and basically throw Towers to the wolves.

Thanks MistaFlava, way out of my league. Shows why you bet 10K a game!

I almost never do...but the night before this game, I said to myself that the team is going to get Towers a win and the team needs to sweep this series like they have talked about doing against bad teams. So I bet the night before and regretted it so much when I saw the lineups. Ah well, it was worth a shot but it was a lesson well learned to never bet before seeing a lineup. Back to smaller wagers today.
