Green and Hibbert declare for the draft, but neither has signed with an agent. Kinda sucks if NCAAB is your favorite thing to watch :(

Hoyas' Green, Hibbert to submit names for draft

WASHINGTON -- Jeff Green and Roy Hibbert, the juniors who led Georgetown to the school's first Final Four appearance in 22 years, will submit their names for the NBA draft.

Neither player will sign with an agent before the early withdrawal date, the Hoyas said Friday, which means they will retain NCAA eligibility should either or both decide to return to college.

"Both young men have worked extremely hard to position themselves for this opportunity," coach John Thompson III said. "They have begun a process of information gathering which is necessary for them to make educated decisions."

The early withdrawal date is June 18. The draft will be held June 28.

Both players would likely be lottery picks. Thompson said earlier this week that Green and Hibbert wanted to get an idea as to how high they would be picked before deciding whether to turn pro.

Green was the player of the year in the Big East and most outstanding player of the NCAA East Regional this season, and his versatility would make him a coveted player in the NBA. The 6-foot-9 forward led the Hoyas in scoring (14.3 points) and was second in both rebounding (6.4) and assists (3.2).

Hibbert, a 7-2 center, could become a strong post player in the NBA but still needs to polish his game. He led the Hoyas in rebounds (6.9) and averaged 12.9 points. He also blocked 90 shots.

Green is so underrated......wish at least one stayed.

Gotta believe Hibbert 4th & green no worse than 7/8.

Both solid players. Cup is not completely empty in DC though. Macklin will be solid and Ewing Jr. made great strides. It may take a few years, but JT3 is reloading not rebuilding.

Georgetown will be:

Top 5 if both stay.
Top 10 if Hibbert stays and Green leaves.
Top 25 if both leave.

I think Hibbert will come back and Green will leave. I read that Hibbert really does not think he is ready to turn pro while Green is more sure...

Green will make instant impact on a team while Hibbert is a few years away from getting playing time... He needs upper body strength and has to learn how to run the floor better...

It's a sad day for Hoyas fans... This team might have been a favorite to win it all next year if both had stayed...

Georgetown's Green says it's '70-30' he'll return to Georgetown

April 17, 2007

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Big East player of the year Jeff Green said Tuesday there is a "70-30" chance he will return to Georgetown for his senior season.

Green and fellow junior Roy Hibbert submitted their names as early-entry candidates for the NBA draft last week. Neither has hired an agent, so both could return to fulfill their oft-stated goal of playing four years with the Hoyas.

"Right now, 70-30 -- 70 coming back," Green said. "It depends on whether I'm ready. I still have a lot of things I need to work on to play at that level."

Both players are potential lottery picks, and both said they want to get a gauge of what their NBA value is now and what it might be if they stay in school another year.

"Do I want to go eight-through-14, or do I want to go top three next year?" Hibbert said. "That does play a factor in my decision."

Hibbert put his odds of returning at 50-50, even though he said Green is the more NBA-ready player. Should both return, coach John Thompson III's team could be a favorite to win the NCAA title next season. The Hoyas made the Final Four this year before losing to Ohio State in the national semifinals.

"I wouldn't want to be at the end of a bench on an NBA team, not being able to develop and show what I can do, so another year here would be great, obviously," Hibbert said. "But I'm just going to see if Coach thinks I'm ready. I would love to come back and get a national championship banner in here. We were close this year, but next year could be great."

Green and Hibbert have until June 18 to withdraw their names if they want to return to Georgetown. The draft is June 28.

"School is only going to be here four years," Green said. "The NBA will be there forever. You can't just give up that. That's a big thought in this process. Either way, I'm going to come back and get my degree."

-----------------------

I figured this would be the other way around with more of a chance of Hibbert coming back... Jesus Hibbert needs another year and is way to raw to play
in the NBA right now... I figured they were both gone but they had to write this article to keep my hopes up so I could be let down twice by the 2 same jackass's...

Me and u have had this discusion earlier this year and at the time hibbert was saying he wasnt even thinking of going to the NBA and i told u once the season end he would change his thought process. But i would admit hibbert not getting an agent is a good idea. But if he gets a decent draft projection hibbert is gone. Im not even going to say anything about green cause he is good as top ten pick he is gone.

Yeah you were right. I was shocked with Hibbert b/c he said there was 0 chance he would leave early a few weeks before they made any noise in the tourny. I guess I figured Green would go b/c he is ready...

Whoever told Hibbert he is ready is not giving him good info. He will be on the bench for a few years before he gets playing time... He may be a high pick but another year of college will help his game in the long run. I guess we will see...

Does Georgetown have a football team? If not - why not? If so - why are they not D1?

They do have a football team...and I think it's not D-1 because it's not a very big school. But I could be wrong.
