ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Winthrop University head basketball coach Gregg Marshall has accepted the job as head basketball coach at Wichita State. Marshall was introduced as the new coach at a news conference in Wichita, Kansas, Saturday afternoon. Marshall coached the Winthrop Eagles for nine years, taking the team to the NCAA Men's Tournament seven of those years. The Eagles made it to the second round of this year's tournament, defeating Notre Dame. We'll have more information on Marshall's move coming up tonight on Channel 9 Eyewitness News at 6 and 11.

Wichita St. just got the best young coach in America. I'm actually shocked he took that job instead of getting a bigger, as in more prestigious, job. :103631605

I go to most Shocker Games and most of us feel this is a great hire
to replace the Turg. Marshall has been the king of his league and although
Mo Valley not a major they do have alot of good coaches. Wish Turg all the best but A&M has only been good in B-Ball once in 25 yrs. and he is following that. GL Turg The AD is forwarning Shocker fans that it might take a yr. or so to get back on track, Turg hadn't exactly recruited much for the future. Toto
