My nominee is BEN SHEETS. Hype, hype, hype, but in reality, just a home run server with his fast balls down the middle of the plate.

Ben Sheets has been pretty damn good over the last few years. He's delivered.

He happened to catch Pujols in the middle of his drought and was prime to explode.

I'll answer your question after I think about it.

well i don't think Zito deserved the contract he got. Way over priced and not the dominant pitcher he was when he won the Cy Young a few years ago.

Here are mine in no particular order that have a public perception to be better than they actually are. I threw in some relief as well.

Kenny Rogers, A.J. Burnett, Tim Hudson, Erik Bedard, Tom Gordon, Boof Bonser, Todd Jones, Jose Contreras, Huston Street, Bronson Arroyo, Chad Billingsley, David Wells, Armando Benitez

If I were to name one that's most overated ATM despite being on the disabled list is Kenny Rogers. I can't wait to fade him.

Wow what emotion. I have the Crew today and looks like a loss. But I would put him on my staff at any time. No pitcher goes undefeated. Root for the Crew bats to get started.

they'll just wager against him Friday night at Miller Park vs the Stros and Rodriguez because apparently the VALUE will be on the other side. I guess I see why people lose MOST of the time.

Who's overrating him? He had a great season last year and has been hurt this year.

Exactly, thats why I will go with the crew on friday with sheets at home. I know this guy. When healthy, which he is for the first time in a while, he takes losses harder than anyone. I do not understand when someone loses a game that they say this or that guy sucks. Do not play them then.
I will be at the game and win or lose my bet I will still have fun and money in my pocket. Look at Suppan yesterday. He had marginal starts in his first 2 and pitches a great game against his former team. People take losses too hard and it all comes down to money management.

i see you are having a good start, continued success.

Don't understand Tim Hudson either...sure the guy has had a miserable last couple years but for several in Oakland--and so far this year--he has been nothing short of dominant. Guy's got one of the best W% of all active pitchers. Saw a stat today that when his team provides 4+ runs in support of him he's 97-4.

Last year he was 14-11, but 4-0 vs the Cubs. Now you have a below .500 pitcher. This year the Cubs are 2-0 vs him so it could he a hard fall if you are laying odds with him.

Gyno, a tip for you - Reds cannot hit lefties so if you want some fade material, here you go. :103631605

I will agree with Sheets also. He has never won more than 12 games in a season. Seems to pitch just well enough to tease you.

From Michigan..makes sense you're upset.

Nobody is overating him yet this season, obviously.

However, Kenny Rogers had the biggest fluke of a year last year. If you can't admit that, then you havn't seen him pitch through out his career.

Which is why the books #'s will be inflated especially with him at home once (if) he makes a return in August/September. I expect some fantastic dog #'s.

Look at Bronson's career #'s. He played for a fantastic Boston team in 2004 and could only manage a 10-9 record. In fact he went 0-5 in one month alone. He beat up on bad teams and got raked by good teams.

In 2005, same deal with a little better 14-10 record, 4.51 ERA. Average year if you're on a team like Boston.

In the NL expected drop in ERA last season but still couldn't get over 14 win mark. I think it was a fluke year though. Just look at his day/night #'s. He was an ace at night 9-5 2.52 and during the day he was 5-6 4.26 ERA. Not bad, but average. Very inconsistant.

He's also older than most people think (30) and really hasn't done much in his career.

The guy was pretty good and pitches well sometimes now but has always been on a good team.
