I dont think 10 years , .311 avg. 1518 hits would have gotten it done..

.409 on base wasnt bad though.

Are white guys wearing 42 today ?

HOF Standards: Batting - 37.9 (Average HOFer ≈ 50)

played his first game at the age of 28 because of segregation, won the first rookie of the year award, was an mvp, 6 time all star.

obviously his social impact played a large part in his induction, but rightfully so.

not trying to diminish his legacy in any way...

just talking numbers..

its a shame that baseball isnt played by more african americans now.

they should also celebrate the first dominican player . they dominate the game now.

They don't celebrate the first dominican player, but Juan Marichal is celebrated quite widely in baseball as the first dominant dominican player...

I was reading about Jackie today and about Pee Wee Reese. I know what Jackie went through was crazy, but Pee Wee, here is an established guy with nothing to gain. Says a lot about him as a person. I didn't how he went against the petition.

think of the poise and mental strength Tiger Woods has and how he excels under pressure in pressure situations where most others cant....now multiply that by 10X that is what he faced when he played at least for the first 3-4 years.

first ballet HOF easily, he performed under stress no player in baseball has ever faced. And you know from guys like Tiger that poise and mental strength is so rare .

if he played his whole career in the negro leagues, he'd be in regardless.

don't penalize him because he missed out on 5-6 good years in terms of mlb numbers.

stats don't tell the whole story.
