Please think a little before you post something Off Topic here in The Offshore Forum. The Rx. is still a gambling forum and natrually we would like to see most of the discussion involve gambling or at least sports that we can gamble on. I know many of you enjoy some OT discussion and we allow it but lately it has been getting out of hand. I have had several complaints from veteran posters asking me what has happened to the Offshore Forum.

Solid off topic threads are fine but there is no need for more "what is your favorite color threads".

Thanks, wil..

PS. I don't want to single out anyone in particular but Winbet comes to mind as the principle culprit.

I don't like threads about individual baseball games or players either; they should be in the baseball forum, not the main forum. I counted 5 a-rod threads on the main page at one time last week. what is that shit?

How about there be a general off topic forum (say stuff that doesn't include gambling but isn't rubber room type material)?

1) It's baseball season and slow gambling season, this happens every year.

2) The number of idiotic self-hyping posts and tout picks in the sports-specific forums are just as big, if not a bigger, problem.

3) Forums like the entertainment forum, financial, and health and fitness forums are where most of these threads belong. Either post them there or have the mods move them there.

4) There are at least 4 posters I could name off the top of my head who should be restricted to the rubber room with their threads and posts unless they can learn a few things.

5) This site thrives on hits and page views and most posters gravitate to the offshore forum first. Therefore, management cannot afford to be counterproductive and move every thread or business will suffer.

6) I get frustrated with some of these things as well and wish their was a better mix of intellect, humor, and reasoning. I do try and contribute to those forums that are neglected in the hopes others will as well.

I kinda of like em myself. But, what Mr J said is right on. We need an off topic fourm.

All in favor say I.

That may not be a bad idea at all. Just a general discussion room for random babble & bs. I like it.

If these "veteran posters" want to help the offshore forum tell them to start a topic worth a damn and get some gambling discussion going.

If not we are all going to have nothing to talk about.

Mike, you beat me to the punch. If nothing else, at least voice your opinions in public instead of running to the mods. At least GD was willing to publicly state his feelings.

Can I start a thread asking the criteria for "Veteran Status"?

Paterno

Veterans status is defined as anyone who registered before October of 2004. Just kidding, by veteran I mean a poster who has been around the forum for over a year I guess, but there really is no set criteria, my veteran might be your newbie. The point is there are some guys who come here to talk gambling and they do start threads and post in others (to answer Mike0187). Call them veteran posters, hard core gamblers or whatever but they are not fans of a lot of OT stuff. That is personal perrogative and we all have it.

This like many subjects here at The Rx. is one that comes up every so often and I believe we actually had a poll one time not to long ago as to whether we should create a general information forum or not. I believe not won, I will try to find it later on. I know guys are trying to be be funny, witty or whatever with some of this OT stuff and that is fine, I know others have serious questions that are OT and that is also fine, the mods have the job of drawing the line somewhere and of course that is never easy.

One of the most common things that make posters mad at me especially and the mods in general is having their threads moved. I don't know how many times I have read emails similiar to: How dare you let threads like "who would win a fight between Mighty Mouse and Superman" stand in the Offshore Forum and you moved my thread "101 ways to knit a sweater out of old dish rags" to the Rubber Room. What a hypocrite, cancel my account at this forum.

Anyway, last night was a slow nite in sports and th OT stuff was starting to get kind of heavy. Like I said a solid OT thread is fine and we get a lot of them, it's the not so bright ones, that are the problem. BTW - what is it with all this gay this or gay that subject matter all of a sudden.

I will see about another poll to vote for a new forum for Off Topic materiel and so we can make this one strickly for sports and gambling threads.

Stay tuned.

Thanks, wil..

the strangest thing was the creaton of the "new offshore environment" forum where many of the usefull posts here actually about offshore gambling at this trying time were moved out of this forum to die.

Veteran posters are overated here.

A signifincant portion bitches about this and that but they don't do shit to help except talk about the "good old days". Including the Mods, specifically Journyman who 50% OT posts yet has whined about it.

It's pretty pathetic to be that hypocritical. Honestly if you look at the vast majority of sports forum OT has been more frequent as online gambling has even gotton more traffic over the years and it's been less of a specific hangout but more of a community.
