Would a very recreational gambler be better served to bet futures?

Those who are in this more for the fun of it, and just a way to keep an interest in an entire season , perhaps a sport they really don't want to bet on a daily basis.....anyone take this approach?

journey, i don't know about futures but i think you would be better off betting series bets like OF DID.

i think there is value here and hedging back

ga

espcially in the nba and some baseball series

If recreational bettors are just in it for the fun I would think no on the futures. I don't think the recreational bettor wants to wait 6 or 7 months for his bet to win or lose.

But you may be right, if they aren't already a fan of a sport I can see where a future may hold their interest for the season. But I think they would get more into the sport if they were betting daily

I have been taking the series approach this baseball season...BTW I wasn't talking about myself, I have too much interest in all the major sports.

I threw in the word 'very' recreational...guys who either bet real low amounts or those who don't follow a particular sport but like to still watch with money on it.

good idea on series bets and hedging?

i'm using alteratives run lines this yr, since 14% of all games are one run games, i have been using this approach and not giving much juice and betting big dogs really getting the juice.

i had boston minus 1.5 this morning for about even money
compared to minus 200

You'd need to shop the prices and have lots of books to have any chance with futures. Prices vary a lot.

I'm talking about a series like Balto @ NYY last week where they were a big dog for the entire series....bet each game individulally....object being to win one game of the 3/4 preferably the first game) I wouldn't do this across the board with a team like Washington or a really cold team .

J-Man,

Instead of betting baseball daily, I bet 4-5 Teams o/u for the season...keeps me in the sport wagering wise but I only watch my fav team (the yanks) most of the time

This is pretty much what I was recommending/asking ....good luck with it.

I bet on many OV/UN season win totals, particularly in baseball, which gives me some sort of action on even the games I don't bet on individually.

Recreational players just don't get enough action with futures. And would not want to wait a whole season to get paid.

come on now... this is like asking: would a casual drinker be better served drinking beer or mixed drinks?

Recreational by definition means "for fun or entertainment" so any wager would sufice as long as the wagerer gains some entertainment value from it

Come on now...I'm speaking of the guys that don't even bet baseball at all, the Football to the end of March Madness types.

I agree. Heck, many rec players dont do anything other than bet their hometown football team for 100$ every week.
