They would immediately escalate themselves to the best team in the East and maybe the best team in basketball.

If they got Oden they would have the best defense in basketball hands down, and if they got Durant they would have that big athletic scorer that can drive and shoot that they have been looking for.

The trade with the Knicks was an absolute steal and if the Knicks lose their last game of the season I think it gives the Bulls the possibility of getting the number one pick at 8.8% or something.

Just wanted to see what you thought, I live in Chicago but this Bulls team hasn't excited me until recently. They were always kind of boring to watch because they didn't have that dominate force, but since Tyrus Thomas has started to come on this team has gotten exciting.

I was just talking to my buddy at school about this the other day. They would probably become the team to beat in basketball with either of those guys added to their team. What do you think?

Oden, Ben Wallace, and Tyrus Thomas down low.

Or Durant, Gordon, Heinrich, Thomas and Wallace. That would be one hell of a team. Plus their bench with Noicioni, Duhan, and Deng. I would almost have to say Deng sits and he may be the best player on the team. I think the Bulls would love to get Oden because it gives them Oden, Wallace, Deng, Heinrich and Gordon with Tyrus coming off the bench.

The last couple years, I always look at the bulls lineup and think this is like a college all star team, yet they never can get it done in the playoffs..

Yeah but the Bulls lack that interior scoring threat and that big time scorer. Either of those players can fill that void. Tyrus looks like he is going to develop into a star in the NBA, but if they get a top 2 pick it would be stupid how good they could be.

until the pistons break up their current roster (... billups leaving at year's end is likely. so that break up could be sooner than later) the east is going to be detroit's to lose for as long as they keep that team together.

i really dont see durant making a difference on the nba level next year, esp if he gets drafted by an eastern conference team. theres no doubt hes going to be a stud. but he is too small to endure the pounding of an 82-game nba schedule against physical teams right now, not to mention the playoffs. if the bulls somehow got oden, theyd prob become the east's clear cut #2.

regardless, the trade was indeed a steal for chicago. but the east still goes through michigan.

Well I was clearly talking about the Bulls team now, not the Jordan teams. That was in 1996 man, I was 9 years old.

I was clearly talking about the team of the last few years.....

I do realize that, but understand even if you were 9 the Bulls have had success in your lifetime. There are fans of MANY teams that would love to have a few years of mediocrity if they could have an era like that.

I really disagree with you on this one. The Bulls are possibly the best team in the East right now, but they need to prove it in the playoffs.

If they got Oden they easily become the best defensive team in basketball, hands down. They then have Oden and Wallace in the post, who is going to get a rebound? Who is going to drive the lane?

If they get Durant I think he scores 20 a game his rookie season.

I personally don't think Detroit is what they were a couple years back.

I can see where you are coming from, but if the Bulls got one of those two guys I think it may make them the best team in basketball.

Mediocrity? The Bulls were the worst team in basketball by far for about 6 years after Jordan left. From 1998-2004 the Bulls never won more then 30 games.

I just obviously wasn't talking about the Jordan Era and never said that I was mad that they hadn't been winning. All I said was I never got to excited about this Bulls team.

there is ZERO, and i mean, ZERO, chance durant scores 20 ppg next season. i dont care if this post is archived and thrown in my face next year. if durant scores 13 ppg, he will have had a good rookie season. teams are going to be VERY physical with him and he is not a pure shooter that is going to be draining nba 3s any time soon.

a 19-yr old kid (regardless of it being durant or oden) is not going to take the bulls or any team and make them the best in the nba. a durant or oden will legitimize a 'fringe team' while elevating a playoff team into a true contender. but its going to be at least 3 yrs before either is part of a team that is considered the best in the nba.

no way in hell Billups leaves the pistons after this year

word is the clippers and cavaliers are willing to throw big money at him. personally, i agree with you. i dont see him leaving either esp since detroit still has a championship caliber team in place. not to mention that detroit is the perfect fit for him after years of being labeled a high pick bust in boston and denver. i dont think its in his best interest to leave. but money has a way of talking in this league. we'll see. but i think his staying/leaving will have (obviously) a huge effect on the entire conference.

Zero chance? People said KG was too skinny and would never succeed.

IDK about zero chance, many rookies have come into the league and averaged close to 20 a game that were much less talented then Durant.

... such as?
garnett didnt crack 20 until his 4th year in the league.
guys like lebron and carmelo are anomalies. youre grossly underestimating how hard it is to drop 20 a game night in and night out in the league.
durant will do it for many years. but it wont be starting next fall.

I am not saying 20... I am saying 18+... Hel Brandon Roy is putting up 17.

IDK it I could be way off, but I think Durant makes an immediate impact in the NBA.
