I do my betting on bet365. Last night I was doing some live betting. It was near the start of the 4th quater and detroit was beating toronto by 20 points. On live betting the line said DET + 19.5 I was like wow someone screwed up so I bet 2 large amounts on it. Thinking that this is a sure winner. Well detroit ended up winning by 16 but I lost. They are telling me that the company has the right to change the bet to what it was intended to be. Not actually what I bought the ticket at. That is the biggest scam I have heard of! Happened to anyone else? Anything I can do about this? I am so pissed!

That's the risk you take when you bet an obviously erroneous line.

Post your ticket.

You probably saw it wrong. . ..

and if you didn't, nobody here is going to feel bad for you. You tried scamming the books yourself.

In my experience obviously erroneous lines are cancelled bets and all 3 of the books I have used say such in their rules. You might want to check their stated rules.

I have seen it twice on my accounts and I tried to hammer middles both times (it was like 10 points in college hoops). Both f*ing times they caught it, cancelled the plays and I was left with the other side of the middle.

Even though the o.p. tried to steal the books money, the wagers should be cancelled. I don't know if you are new to gambling, but gambling etiquette says that bettors should not place wagers on bad lines.

I would send an e-mail to them explaining that you thought you were betting the RAPTORS +19.5. It should be done in a respectful tone. I would end the e-mail with "Respectfully".

If that does not work, contact a moderator here...or I would go to SBR.

I just saw the line and got excited. I knew it couldn't be right, but I was very tempted. I almost loaded my balance on it. I knew it was too good to be true. But still I can't understand how they can just say I loose and not honor exactly what I bid on. At the worst they should void the bet.

I definitely wouldn't say you were trying to take advantage of a bad line, thats for sure.

I would go right to the top. Start with the United Nations; they do a real good job of settling international disputes. Good luck.

i had same situation with a bad line, pounded it, they caught it, and gave me a " no play "....

do any of you think if the opposite happened, like he accidently bet on a bad line and lost the sportsbook would be understanding? i sure as hell don't think so. at the very least they should void the bet - you shouldn't have your money taken.

I've gad problems mytself at bet365 with this 'live betting' bullshit in the past. My advice to everyone is to stay the fuck away from bet365 'live betting'!!!! As for your wager, sure you tried to take advantage of an error on their part. but by the same token it was an error on their part and they should be obliged to do 1 of 2 things in this scenario: (1) Honor your wager or (2) refund you your amount wagered. Wherther you tried to take advantage of them or not, that is beside the point. I'm certain many others attempted or tried the same thing. The bottom line is that it was a mistake on the sportsbook's part, not the customer's in this case. I would contact the manager and bring up the following points, asking initially why your 'live bet' wager was not honoured and after his reason, then politely indicate that this was not your fault and that you did not pay attention to the error yourself when you layed down the wager. Inform him that you would at least like and think that your wager amount should be refunded as this was an error on the book part---plain and simple! The last resort I always use in cases like this is simply to inform the manager or the customer agent to pass a message on to the manager that if your wager is not honoured or the wager amount is not refunded, then you will inform all the major sports forumers about bet365 and the crooked way they handle customer wagers and customer support. However, I stress that is always my last resort!

same thing happened to me last night, i emailed them right away and got this response....

The bets referred to had an incorrect spread of Detroit +19.5/ Toronto -19.5, and as such have been graded at the correct line as per the rules of the site:

Palpable errors In-Play - when it is clear which particpant is the wrong price/line/handicap/totals, bets on this participant will be settled at the bet365 price/line/handicap/totals at the time the bet was placed. if it is unclear which participant was the wrong price/line/handicap/totals (due to large fluctuations around the time the bet was placed), then we reserve the right to void all bets placed at the time of an over-broke book.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

The line was obviously bad. You bet it trying to take advantage. You didn't read the rules before signing up which state the book has the right to change the line to what it should have been. You lost. Money gone.

End of story.
