he had one good year....his "contract year" with Texas.
he apprantly got busted for performance enhancing drugs (innocent until proven guilty though...) i nthe offseason....
when he played for the cubs he was good, but way short for 50 mill..... that's for a show on how to spend a billion dollars...... seriously, it's amazing how they make a mediocre player, a milionaire...
i'd like to see a study done on players perform in their contract years in relation to the rest of their careers. soraino was also in a contract year last season and he's been pretty bad as well.
he is a joke...did u see the defensive play in yesterdays game he attempted to make in centre.. he ran like a 12 year old little leaguer with his glove in the air like a dufus chasing a fly ball and he wasnt even within 5 feet of catching it.. i laughed my ass off (even though i had the angels)... i tink ima stay away from them..they screw me again today
NO KIDDING !!!! First let me mention....I HAD NO MONEY ON THE GAME.
Now with that said, I'm an Angel fan, and to pay this idiot the kind of money they did and have to watch him prance around the outfield like he knew what he was doing has to be painful. I've seen high school ball players with better skills and they're playing for f'n FREE. That debachle in Boston and another today would be comical if it wasn't so sad.
It's ridiculous the kind of money being thrown around to mediocre ball players. I'll bet Mathews and his ilk, can hardly contain their laughter when they're back in their "crib".
I'm still not sure what they saw in him aside from one season, in which he set career highs with pedestrian totals of 19 HR and 79 RBI's. His average of .312 was 37 points above his previous career high. And all of this from a 32 year old?
