What if by him doing it, it pursuades other NFL players to contribute 10,000 grand. why set the bar so high that others may shy away. would be great if50 players gave 10 grand.

The funny thing is if he didn't give anything nobody would have said anything, then he gives money and is blasted for it, classic rx. yea 10k might not be much to him, but at least it's something.

That is ridiculous, that is worse than not giving anything!

I know it's still something but damn, he was a big part of V-Tech, he could give more, wouldn't it help his tax status anyway?

I wonder what Marcus donated?

Also you guys need to remember he's giving this to the families to provide for funeral, transportation, expenses, etc. This isn't the same as donating to the university. In that case 10,000 is fine.

he should have thought about contacting other v tech alum who have made the pros and put together a fund to offset every victims funeral cost.

Yea it might be fine except we know about it...How is it we know about it????????? dont you make these donations privately??????? So the fact he's let it get out means he's proud of it.......IF he's proud of giving 10k then he's a bigger loser than i thought.........

I dont understand how you guys can criticize anybody donating to chartiy, no matter the amount.

Lets see here. If Vick makes 10 mill a year, 10k is 0.1% of his salary.

In this thread, Journey and others are offering to donate $100 to VaTech for charity. If you make 100k a year, $100 is also 0.1% of your salary.

If you are going to criticize Vick for not donating more, maybe you all should look in the mirror first.

I think youre leaving out some of the story here:

Vick donates $10,000 to Virginia Tech families
'If I can help in some small way, that's the least I can do,' ex-Hokie QB says

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick has teamed up with the United Way to donate $10,000 to assist families affected by the massacre at Virginia Tech, his former school.

"When tragic things like this happen, families have enough to deal with, and if I can help in some small way, that's the least I can do," said Vick, who played for the Hokies before being drafted No. 1 overall by the Falcons in 2001.

The Vick Foundation is collecting donations from local communities in both Atlanta and Virginia that will be placed in the United In Caring Fund for Victims of the VA Tech Tragedy and the special fund at the United Way of Montgomery, Radford and Floyd counties, which serves the Virginia Tech area.

Vick's foundation said the money will be used to provide help with funeral expenses, transportation for family members and other support services.

Vick said in a statement that he was "shocked and deeply saddened' by the shooting massacre that killed dozens of studnets at his alma mater Monday, the Atlanta Journal-Consitution reported.

Vick played two seasons for the Hokies before entering the NFL draft after his junior season. He attended the school from 1998-2001.

"First and foremost, I am shocked and deeply saddened about the tragic loss of life that took place early Monday on the Virginia Tech campus," said Vick in the statement released by the Falcons.

"My thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones involved in this terrible tragedy. It is my hope that the university community can pull together to help the students cope with this senseless and unfortunate ordeal."

Vick's teammate, Falcons cornerback DeAngelo Hall, a Hokie from 2001 to 2003, also release a statement.

"Words can't describe how sad I am right now," Hall said. "Everyone who knows me understands the affinity I have for Virginia Tech. My prayers and thoughts are with all of the loved ones and family members involved in this horrible tragedy."

I agree with gtc here, people are actually blasting Vick for this?? According to the story Hall didnt give a dime. And what about alums like Dell Curry, Druckenmiller, Antonio Freeman, Kevin Jones; etc, etc. These cats as of yet hasnt even stepped up to the plate. Come on now.
