Write-Up:

First off lets get this straight off the top. These two pitchers have virtually identical stats. Both having 19 innings pitched with an ERA of 2.37. The advantage in WHIP goes to Lilly with .74 whereas Looper's is 1.11. The only problem is the Cubbie's have only gave Lilly an average run support of 2.3 runs per each of his starts. You can't win much with no support, right? But things have changed since Lilly's last start. The Cubs have put up 24 runs in their last 4 games, which is 6 runs per game. Believe me if they put up 6 today it'll be an easy winner, but that's not the point. Even though they only won 3-0 yesterday, they hit the ball fairly well. They put up 8 hits and Ryan Theriot, Matt Murton, and Micheal Barret all had 2 hits. When you can get wins and hits when your big bats aren't hitting, you know things are on a turn around. Aramis Ramirez got a hit to extend his hitting streak last night as well so you can count on him being fired up to hit #16 in a row.

Now let's look at St. Louis and you tell me how they will put up numbers on Lilly. Runs per game 3.2 in which they are ranked 28th. Team batting average .232 in which they are ranked 26th. They have the 29th ranked on-base slugging percentage at .636. Now it gets even worse. While you can see by the numbers, they don't get many people on base and don't score much. So even when they get on base they have a problem moving them up. Ranked at 27th in the ML they only have 4 steals. This team is really struggling having lost 4 in a row and 5 out of the last 6. I just don't see this being a good opportunity for the Cards to put something together, on the other hand the Cubs have been showing some offense lately and great pitching. Watch it continue today in this early afternoon winner.

Good Luck to everyone today!

Adding:

$141/$100 Los Angeles Angels (-141)
Write-up:

According to sources and x-rays Vladimir Guerrero is cleared to play and will most likely do so. Besides that you must understand how much of a different team this is at home. They started off the season red hot at a 5-2 mark at home. Went on a road and won a game to continue their home hot streak but then dropped 6 in a row on the road. For their opening game of the series Gary Matthews Jr. will be representing legend Jackie Robinson. This might seem meaningless to most people, but this is a huge dedication to a great athlete and you can bet he will have his heart and sole put into this game. How about another dedication for ya? Starting pitcher, Joe Saunders, will be dedicating his performance to the Virginia Tech Hokies. He was a pitcher for this school before he was drafted by the Angels in 2002. He again will be putting everything he has into this game for his beloved school.

Now that the dedications and home field advantage are out of the way. Let's get into some stats. I'll start with pitchers first. The clear advantage favors the Angels. Joe Saunders was and up-and-comer last season and now he is continuing his success into this season and is now in rare form. He has started this season with a 1-0 mark w/ an ERA just under 3 at 2.97. His opposing pitcher has a 1-1 mark w/ an ERA of 8.74. Not to mention he will be on the road pitching for the first time this season. This will be a true test for him and I don't feel he will be able to handle it.

The key to this game is going to being able to move runners. The Mariners are in dead last in the ML w/ only 1 steal all season long. On the other hand, the Angels are 5th in the ML with 12 steals. The clear favorite in offense is obviously Seattle with a much higher runs per game, but you must look closer into this stat. They are only batting .249 while the Angels are right behind them at .247. The Angels have had their scoring droughts on the road. They have only put up more than 2 runs twice on the road and it was in their first two games coming off the hot home streak. At home is where they do all their damage. They put up 28 runs at home thus far in 7 games equally 4 per game, yet their runs per game overall is only 2.93. This tells you how bad they were on the road.

This will be a case of a lot of emotions tonight in Los Angeles. Their will be two dedications on the line and the eagerness to snap a 6 game losing streak. Nothing could solve this problem except playing at home in front of your fans, having Vladimir back in the lineup, and having a great young pitcher on the mound. That should be enough to get the big win and get back on the winning side.

Good Luck to everyone tonight!

No time for write-up sorry. I am in a rush getting out of here. I had just enough time to get the research done, just not enough time to write it out.

Good Luck to everyone tonight!

Looking like 2-1 on the night. Could have been 3-0 if the Cubs didn't shit the bed.. not even that.. if they could even score when they had so many opportunities late in the game. Oh well.. 2-1 for is all right by me.
