I was driving on a highway when I spotted these two strays in an empty parking lot. I stopped to feed them some leftover chicken.

One looks to be a 2-3 yr old female that's been starving for a while as her ribcage & backbone are showing. She's pretty gentle as she let me pick her up. The other looks like a puppy and it bit me when I picked it up.... gave me about four puncture wounds.

Now the problem is.... the female looks like she gave birth not too long ago, as her teets are swollen and droopy. Really worried that if she has a litter that they would die if I don't return her. And the puppy won't stfu, has been howling and barking the past 3 hours.

So what should I do?????????? Return them and hope their owners find them???? Neither has a tag.

If in the next 24 hours you start foaming at the mouth & declaring the Wiz
to be a lock for the NBA title, we will all know your tetnus shots were not
up to date. :drink:

I already have 5 dogs so I don't really know what I will do with these.... but really worried that the female may have a litter and they may starve to death.

And my damn cat is missing. Probably a coyote took him. Damn it.

I'd laugh if I weren't in so much pain.

"her teets are swollen and droopy"

i think i may have picked up her sister last night?also was wandering a parking lot with lots of big trucks around.

on a serious note, great job! chances are the puppies are already dead if the mother looked that hungry, but i guess you could go back near the scene and see if you can find them.you know what will happen if you take them to the pound so if you have room and ability to feed them keep them.hope it turns out ok!

I ended up dropping the mom off where I found her..... everyone kept telling me her puppies would die so had no choice. But she did leave me a nice gift in my car.... well two (barf & poo).

The other one I'll check lost/found and if no matches then will most likely end up at the pound.

We took one in when we had a house in college. Little did we know that we had a black lab that was roughly 50x more racist than David Duke. Seriously, this dog FREAKED OUT when he saw black people.

It's a miracle we never ended up with a lawsuit or in jail over him attacking someone. Definitely one of the more bizarre things I've ever seen.

I'd check back in a day or two to see if the mom is still roaming around. Get those doggies some help.

The coyote line was hilarious though.

I wish you hadn't done that with the "mom" dog. More than likely the pup is hers and that she is probably swollen from trying to feed her pup since she is starving. Please try to find her, most Vets can recommend an "saver" who will adopt or foster strays and find them homes. Also, they will try to locate the pups if the "mom" dog had any. Good luck with this and bless you for trying to save them.
Sidebar, the pup probably bit you because it could be injured or extremely scared of humans.

Don't think it's her pup cause he's collie/lab mix while the "mom" is a pitbull. Been told that he could be around 5 months or so. He looks to be in good condition, definately not been starving for long.

I think the pit might've had parvo cause she kept throwing up everything she ate. After I dropped her off I was horrified when she began crossing the highway. Luckily cars were far off. I followed her for a bit as she moved quickly through a large field, sniffing as she went. Hope she found her pups.
