Nice sweep yesterday. Now 8-1 past 9 picks. Continuing today...

I like the Cubs here vs. the Cards today, but I don’t trust Lilly despite his stellar performances thus far.

Cards are in a bad place right now. Pujols isn’t swinging it well, and he has been terrible at Wrigley. Rolen is questionable with food poisoning. They can’t buy a win right now. Their rotation is out of wack, with Looper making another start. I keep saying the deeper he goes, the harder it will be for him. Cards are bottom 5 in baseball vs. lefty pitchers. On top of it all, they play at Wrigley, which has been a house of horrors for them. 2-9 last 11 at Wrigley. They were swept there a couple times last year.

Cubs are flat out raking righties right now, top 5 in baseball – so Looper will have it tough today. Just a 1* play here at great odds, because Looper has been a pretty good day pitcher over his career and Lilly hasn’t. But I still think the Cubs have too many other factors going for them in this game, and if they win – it should be by 2+ runs. The Cardinals go as Pujols go, and right now – he ain’t going.

By the way, tomorrow at 3 PM, I do not want you watching any baseball. We have more imprortant issues at hand. :dancefool

2* Boston Red Sox -112
1* Boston Red Sox -1.5 +170

Really like the Red Sox in this spot. Obviously, they have huge revenge on their minds from last year’s 5 game sweep. But the Yankees have not put anywhere near the offensive production on the road, that they have done at home. Meanwhile, <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Boston leads baseball by far with a 1.80 ERA as a staff when pitching at home. Curt Schilling has been a much better pitcher at home in his career, and he is a guy with a lot of pride that wants to show he is the ace of this staff.
Boston has quietly been putting up the very similar offensive numbers as the Yankees the past 7 days – the Yankees are getting all of the press though. As good as the Yankees have been playing it has taken miracle homeruns by A-Rod to pull out victories as they have trailed big going into the 9th inning. Fenway is unfriendly grounds, and Pettitte may have a tough time going through this lineup.

Nice. Just did my write-up on the game, and it looks like we see eye to eye.

2* LA Angels -1.5 +150

If there is any team happy to be back home it is the Angels, who struggled on the road trip. Seattle is the worst road team in baseball and worst at hitting lefties and they will do both tonight. I think this is a 3* play, but I'll play it at 2*, because if worst comes to worst and I split with the Marlins, I will still make money.

I want to play the Royals team total over, but havent seen a line up for it yet.

That should do it for tonight.

AJ Burnett went from being severely overvalued, to undervalued in 1 week.
