Standing O for Beckett after giving up 5 runs on 11 hits in just over 6 innings.

You lost money on the Yanks huh? Usually cheering for a winning day is how it goes, especially against an offense like the Yanks (in case you weren't aware, this is a big rivalry). And check the box score next time you post one of these silly threads. Beckett gave up 4 ERs in 6.2 IPs, giving up 9 hits while striking out 7. Guess they should have been booing huh?

Dont assume things jibba. I dont even bet on baseball. Didnt realize the last run was unearned. What makes it silly anyways? I dont care, rivalry or not its a below average start. Horrible ratio and bad era. Did not warrant a standing O in my opinion.

not at all. Had no money on the game, was a good game though.

Fair enough. Just sick of people here acting as if I can't have an opinion on the Red Sox because I'm from Boston. The original post didn't even have the stats right and it seemed like it was made by someone who was pissed off after losing money on the game. I mean, so what? They cheered a pitcher who was on his way to 4-0 and who has been unbelieveable this year so far. He pitched well enough to beat their arch rival tonight, which is cause for cheering IMO.

I didn't assume. I asked. You're entitled to your opinion, but I think the thread is silly. Really nothing worth bashing IMO. The guy went to 4-0 and it's the biggest rivalry in sports. Did it really deserve it's own thread?

Sorry, thought this was a forum meant for discussing thoughts and opinions. I had an opinion and expressed it. I will check the thread starter criteria before starting something next time. I could care less if its a rivalry. A standing O is deserving for a GREAT outing, and this was a bad outing who was bailed out from a terrible yankees pitcher and good red sox hitting.

beckett had a bad start and did not pitch up to his potential. Good thing for him that NY had Karstens

Number 1 Yankees/Res Sux is not the greatest rivalry in sports. Everyone knows that football runs this country

Number 2 Giving up 9 hits and 4 ER in 6 2/3 innings is not deserving of a standing Ovation.

Number 3 Before you jump to conclusions (apparently you like to do this) i did not bet on this game . . . if it is any consolation i do hate the Goofy Sox.

What football rivalry is bigger than Bos/NYY ?

It's not the Cowboys - Giants.

Just to make the point that there is a general consensus that Sox/Yankees is among the top rivalries in team sports, I found two articles. The ESPN article lists the rivalry at #7, but behind only 3 team rivalries (#5 - Maple Leafs/Canadiens, #3 - North Carolina/Duke, and #1 - Michigan/tOSU). The Sports Column article lists the Sox/Yanks at #3, behind only #2 - Michigan/tOSU and #1 NC/Duke.
