Hard to believe Arod is in his 8th season of the famous 10 year 252 million dollar deal.

Is it possiable that AROD could get a pay raise soon?

By the time hes done he will probably have made over 400 million in player contract money alone, not counting endorsements.

It's only his seventh season, and he won't be wanted in NY after 2010. He may not even be wanted there next week. I don't think there's any way his next contract will be anywhere close to 25 mil a year.

How cool would it be to donate an entire years salary to a charity? He would be known forever for that and may even make it back in other ways...

If I made 25 million a yr I would do something like that one season.

Maybe he already has. Why make something like that public? If you do, you're not donating. You're buying love from fans and buying hero status, even though the donation wouldn't make him a hero.

You can play for free, players have done things like played with an open contract, Andre Dawson did it. He told the Cubs to pay him what they thought he was worth.

So the only way to really make a donation then is to do it silently...that's bull.

You even said yourself that he "could make it up in endorsements" because of the goodwill the donation would buy. That isn't a donation at all. A donation is when you give freely out of the kindness of your heart, and receive nothing in return.

The charity would still get the money, so I'd count it.

He probably would get close to 25M as an extension,IMO. If Bonds gets 20, then 25 is not impossible for A-Rod, 20 is pretty doable if others are getting that.

Let's say Arod loses steam after this tremendous start. The boo birds start coming back and he'll return to being the major "bum" headline in the papers after every strikeout. If his imaginary donation (20 mil) was made public, don't you think people will be less harsh towards him? It'd be great to do it quietly and enjoy your life, but you're only as good as what you did in your last at bat in the Bronx. Make the donation publicly, and you'll get some slack. Do it quietly and you'll still be given immense criticism for each mistake you do. I know what my decision would be and I consider myself pretty humble. It's about creating some breathing room in this stressful atmosphere.

I do not care how much money I have or make in a year, I am not that stupid to just give it away like Santa Claus.

Taken out of context...that wasn't the point at all.

if he options out it would be to take a pay cut and move on ..

nobody is going to pay any player 25 million in the near future.

i'd love to see to him play for the tigers or florida. be a nice lineup with miguel cabrera , hanley ramirez and arod ..
