I have western union payout amount of $3000. This is my first time receiving money by western union so I decided to ask what I need to bring in to collect 3000. the person who was working at the convenience store said because the fact that it's a large sum of money, they will need not only my driver license but also social security card.... Is this true?? he said they need to report it to gov't. If this is not true, I'm going somewhere else to pick up my money.

Over 2K and they ask a lot of questions...you may want to break it dwn into atleast 2 payments.

This has been the case for many years, anything over 2k.

good luck.

also- some of these places will end up cutting you a check because they don't have the money to pay out that much, you better ask ahead of time.-

I've been cashing $995 every week since mid January. Never a problem. I do it at a check cashing store. I wouldn't cash out more than that.

I thought when I go pick up the money, no matter how much it is, they pay you by money order type of check.... so they actually do give you a cash if the amount is low enough?

Yeah, they'll pay cash if it's a small amount or they are a "high volume" place.

Keep it under 1k & you'll avoid a lot of hassles.

I don't think that is true...atleast not here.

The type of questions they ask are just routine questions, nothing to get alarmed about, these are the same questions they asked before the Patriot act.

Where you work, ID, SSN (I believe) pretty sure that is it....large grocery stores will usually pay you the cash if you hit them at the right time of day.

I think you can open yourself up to a lot of problems when you give a ss number out to anyone let alone some of these minumum wage people you have at these places. I would keep anything under 1000.
