43-32, +23.82 units
Last few days have been pretty uneventful. Winning or losing less than a unit. Trying to get a roll going as I hover around the mid-20 mark on the season. Let's start it off today:
2* Florida Marlins -138
1* Florida Marlins -1.5 +150
Dontrelle Willis faces off vs. the young 23-year old right hander Kyle Davies. While Willis has established himself as a big game pitcher in this league, Davies is still trying to feel his way into the bigs and trying to figure out how to get Major League hitters out consistently. It's been a struggle for him thus far in his career, and it won't get any easier today. Big series win for the Barves over the Mets this past weekend, and they will now travel to their house of horrors in Florida. Braves are 4-10 in their last 14 meetings in Florida. They will face a pitcher that they know very well, but they can't see to beat as Willis has won his last 4 decisions vs. the Braves.
With Willis, you are guaranteed an outing in which he will attack hitters, and keep the score reasonable and give his team a chance to win, and thats all you can ask for. He also provides another bat in the Marlin lineup that is quietly the 3rd best hitting team in baseball right behind the Yankees and Mets. With Dan Uggla, the Marlins 2-hole hitter, finally breaking out of his slump last game with 2 HR's, and Miguel Cabrera returning to the starting lineup tonight, the Marlins will put their dangerous lineup back on display and even bat Willis in the 9th hole vs. a struggling young Kyle Davies. The Marlins as a team are batting over .400 vs. Davies in their limited at-bats against him.
Willis lost his last decision vs. the Mets, and now has a chance to bounceback at home vs. a team he is familiar with and had success against. The Braves rely on the long ball, and the Marlins park can be unfriendly to hit homeruns in at times with it's strange and deep dimensions in center field, and the "Teal Monster" in left. Braves have hit 24 homeruns this year and just 9 vs. left handed pitching. Much bigger pitching advantage for the Marlins than the line indicates.
Marlins 7
Braves 4
