im never one to create unnecessary hype, esp in a 162-gm mlb season. but this is the strongest stance im taking on a baseball game so far this season. feel very strong about this game, primarily because of the pitchers involved.
cleveland (-102)
silva has pitched way over his head early on this season. not to mention that he caught a good break when he went up against felix hernandez as a 2/1 dog last week and watched his counterpart exit the game after only a few batters. silva is due to get knocked around a little bit and the indians have hammered him in his career, esp their studs.
some absolutely gaudy numbers to say the least, even if the sample sizes are modest:
hafner 9/23 (.391)
sizemore 17/31 (.548)
martinez 10/22 (.455)
on the flip side, sowers comes in off of the first truly bad start of his young career. the yankees got to him early and ended his day after 2.2 innings. but the one thing thats so impressive about sowers is that he is mentally tough and has a lot of composure for a 2nd year pro. no reason to think he wont bounce back against a far more 'average' lineup that minnesota will send up to the plate.
stating the obvious here when i say that this is baseball and anything can certainly happen. this play could blow up in my face. but win or lose, i couldnt ask for a better pitching matchup and price.
very strong play in this one on sowers (-102)
