Lats night L. barbosa was listed as a pick of the day at one of my books....I took Under 24 pts.....They are grading it as a NO PLAY,(should be a win) because he didn't "start" the game....He is a sixth man on the team he never starts? I thought start meant play in the game not in the starting lineup....esp. since he NEVER is?? He played 36 mins....Can anyone clarify if I am correct or incorrect??

Thanx,

must start means on the court at tipoff, must play means has to play at some point in the game

I don't think there is an actual rule of thumb that covers all outs regarding these kind of props. You need to read the rules regarding this prop at the book in question. One book may require a player to start (most common) while others may simply require they get in the game at some point. Vegas books have their rules posted somewhere on a wall within the book itself. Online books should have a definition of the rule posted on it's website or as part of the actual prop wording.

here is pinnys which is very close to vegas

NBA Propositions - Multi-way Player Props:
If any player listed in a category does not start the game, the entire category will be graded as no action. For example, if one of the players listed in the Points Scored category does not start the game, then all wagers on Points Scored will be graded as no action, even if the player later enters the game.

Do you have the exact wording of the prop ?

if its must start, then no action

Here is the EXACT wording: <TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width="100%" align=center border=0><TBODY><TR class=GameBanner align=middle><TD colSpan=8>"ALL PLAYERS</TD></TR><TR class=GameBanner align=middle><TD colSpan=8>START FOR ACTION"

BUT the guy is a sixth man how the fuck is he supposed to start the game?? They put up a fair line of 24 pts...he played 36 mins scored 20 pts....I don't see how it is No Action??
</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

That's pretty blatant......maybe Barbaro prop was added in case there was an injury or other circumstance that would allow him to start-kind of an "if" bet I guess.

Stupidly shady though.

start has a pretty standard definition, play is the alternative as Wil said.

Sorry, but its clear.

Its a dumb prop with little chance of action.

Yea tell me about it.....In fact the prop opened at 24.5 and was closed at 23.5 -115.....So i know it was bet towards the under......I Only bet it for 50 bucks, so its not the money I just feel like I was robbed.....and I can't stand that...Noone likes to lose, but we all accept it.....but to put up a nonsense prop as the prop of the day is total BS

One of my agent outs.... beteagle......never had a problem until today, but I also don't play much there soooooo who knows...Just don't understand how the NBA sixth man of the year award winner(probably) has to start a game for it to be valid.....IF HE NEVER STARTS

The prop says must start, so it is graded correctly in my opinion. Probably shouldn't have been worded that way or put up if that was the case.

For the record , he did start 18 games during the regular season ... so I don't think "Never" is the right way to describe it .... Still a bad beat though ... he probably will win 6th man....

I have no experience with Eagle, but wouldn't call it a shot... more like ill-advised to offer it when it likely is no action, that's just potential for a dispute. I seem to recall reports saying they were basically an OK book.

If it were me booking, I'd not offer it on a player unlikely to start, but start means be there at the tip-off, no other way to read that,IMO.
