Did anyone remember this guy in college. When you heard that he was coming to play your team did you ever say, shit Jamarcus is coming in town?

I remember the guy being mediocre early and becoming pretty good but a franchise QB? Once again the NFL stairs at these tools and not the player.

Take the guy who succeeded in college....
Take the guy who dominated in college....
Take the guy who was the best at his position in college...

Take CALVIN JOHNSON. There are Jamarcus Russels in every single NFL draft. He is not a once in a lifetime prospect like Calvin. There are guys who can throw the ball really far with a big frame every year.

He was a good college QB but he wasn't feared was he. I don't know because I am a midwest guy but was that your biggest worry when LSU came to town. I just think his size and arm strength are making scouts obsessed with him.

He is not Calvin Johnson though... No matter what....

What's amazing is how scary he would have been if he didn't play with the greatest bouncer passer at qb in the history of College Football!

I have to say that this may be the first time I have agreed with themanej......now I am really depressed....

have to say that ej is on point this time as well.

i am praying that oakland takes him #1 because i absolutely do not want the browns taking this guy at #3. i think brady quinn is the much safer and much better pick (... if the browns choose to go qb, which i think they will. personally peterson is the right pick for them. but quinn will be a solid choice).

i made very good money on lsu this past year. but i honestly felt that russell kept the opposition in the game more often than he made plays to put the game out of reach.

i dont think anyone is denying the kid has great size and a cannon for an arm. and he does have a lot of potential. but his bust potential is off the charts too. does he WANT to get better and be a franchise quarterback? quinn seems to be relishing the opportunity to turn a franchise around.

please oakland. take russell. dont give the browns the opportunity to fu.ck up any more

6' 5" 265 29-5 as a starter. "they have these every year" ughhhh they do???? on what frickin planet????

bust potential???? ?????????? Where do ya'll get this crap???? guy aint got an ounce of lazy in him, not 1 mention of trouble in his 3 yrs

Calvin johnson....lol they got nobody to throw the ball to anybody they got now!!!! who the F they gonna bring in to qb? bledsoe?, brooks? booty? that awful 2nd stringer from last year???? c'mon!!!

the 1st offensive play run by the Raiders this year barring trade or injury will be a 25+ yrd pass from Russell to Moss

Please refer to the "Michael Vick house raided by cops" thread and you will see evidence of why Russel wiill not be a franchise type of guy.

I think it was deleted even though I am100% right and it is backed up by FACTS. but, hey, guess FACTS are stupid.

Can't wait to see him throw the ball 80 yards from his knees. Thats what gets it done in the NFL

And as far as his work ethic, what does it say when at the combine, arguablly the most important day of his life, he comes in at around 280.

It will be fun watching yet another one fall on his face. But, hey since it happens 100% of the time, that makes me a racist. Its just a sad world we live in today.

Go pay these ex-athlete GM's millions of dollars to make these decisions and then they fail miserably.

Russel started like what 30 games in his college career? What makes me think he'll suck is that he wasn't even on the radar for the #1 pick until his monster game against Notre Dame. It was against Notre Dame's Swiss cheese defense!!! After that he was all of a sudden the best player in the draft by some.

If he goes to Oakland, he'll struggle because they still don't have an offensive line so he'll get pressured constantly. The receivers aren't that great and just getting old. Is there a running game in Oakland? Not a great one.

It's going to be a disaster no matter where he goes.

Russell reminds me of when Akilli Smith came out of nowhere...seemed like a risky pick and he was terrible ....Smith wasn't well known either til his senior year.

This is all I am saying. Yes there are Jamarcus Russel's in every single draft. Great he threw the football 60 yard from his knee. When do you need to do that in the NFL haha?

Remember when Kyle Boller threw the ball 70 yards from his knee then jumped up to a first round pick?

When is the NFL going to learn that as Steve Young is saying, ACCURACY, ACCURACY, ACCURACY.

This guy is not Vince Young... This guy did not lead his team to the promise land. Look all I was asking was, was this guy feared when LSU came to town? Was that the guy you worried about? Hell was he even talked about on ESPN before games?

No the guy came out of nowhere, and if you are the number one pick in the draft you shouldn't come out of nowhere, SEE MARIO WILLIAMS....

This is just my opinion but I think Arm Strength is not that important. Look at the great QB's in the NFL today 3 of them have mediocre arms. Peyton does not have a rocket but he is smart and has great accuracy.

the guy has improved considerably the past 3 years.

Oh I understand that Dsethi do not get me wrong. But once again I don't care how far he can throw from his knees. Arm strength is about as over rated as 40 times.

I understand he has improved greatly, but I am just saying.....

I just don't think your first pick in the draft should be like him

COME ON JON ELWAY LIKE???

Russell should be a decent QB, but I am not sure if he'll ever justify being the #1 pick of '07.

I guess the feLions will take yet another WR.
