I should probably know the answer to this, but does a game played under protest have any effect on the betting outcome. I could look it up, but am not at work and honestly don't think I've come across it before.

I am asking about the Baltimore/Cleveland game tonight, FWIW.

As far as I know, nothing changes. Whatever the official result is at MLB is what it is. I have yet to read any rules/info on protested games on any betting website.

Has this happend before ? and has anyones bet been involved in one of these games ?

No effect on wagers. And to be honest, a protested game really doesn't mean anything. I doubt a commissioner will ever again side with the protesting team, and it hasn't happened since the George Brett pine tar game.

Agreed. I had the winning side, so it didn't matter. Just curious as I've never seen it come up. I can't think exactly what rule it falls under but no there is a house rule stating "protests, forfeits, etc. will not overturn results".

I remember a few months ago some guy came in to the book and thought we would grade his USC season wins under if they had to forfeit games in 2005 for Reggie Bush. So it is covered.

Can't see any logic why it would have any effect for any sport. It opens up a can of worms. The sports body rules on the final outcome and that is the result for betting purposes.

In horse racing once the result is official any protest or subsequent disqualification due to drug tests is moot for betting purposes.

Biggest headached I had as a bookmaker was the Barrera-Juarez fight. They announced it a draw on air. Then changed it after it went off. Lots of confusion and unhappy bettors there. Put the book in a no-win situation. Only good thing was it didn't have too much action on it.

If Bet Jamaica takes my $$ back after the O's win, I am driving to Sam Perlozzo's house and asking him for the 2 c-notes. He had to be told three innings later by fellow coach Tom Trebelhorn about the rule.

I like Perlozzo, but several of us at the bar immediately said that run should have counted and could not figure out why there was no protest to the umps.

Three innings and two Irish Car Bombs later, they protested but I was too drunk to care.
