From what I've read he has no cartilage left in either knee and the one is actually worse than the other. He is essentially bone on bone, which has to be excruciatingly painful. Several players had to retire due to the fact they had no cartilage left in their knees & Mo Vaughn had to have his knee replaced at age 35 I believe. So, how the hell is Bonds still stealing bases and playing the OF with no cartilage left in his knees? (Spare the steroid jokes). Just curious as hell as to how he is doing this.

Who cares? I don't meant to be an ass it just pisses me offf. This guy was probably the best player of this era and then here come the steroids. Why? He didn't even need them. No use for the guy not to mention he's a prick.

I would guess he is getting injections to keep the pain down, knowing that he is headed to a knee replacement anyway.

Obviously, i'm not a professional athlete, but until two years ago, I was playing competitive baseball (i'm now 40) and since then i've had 3 knee surgeries related to arthritis in my knee. I basically have no cartilage left in my left knee.

This past week, I played some softball for the first time in two years and after just doing some jogging and light running, my knee is swollen to the point where I can barely straighten it.

Any of these guys playing with arthritis have to be suffering a great deal while they play.

Wait until you see all the other guys who are going to be linked to steroids as well, once the names start leaking out from the indictment of the guy who used to work for the Mets.

What do you do then when it's not just Bonds anymore and there are Hall of Fame type guys, who everyone loves, who were on the juice?

Don't think that these guys have to look like Lou Ferrigno either. Guierrmo Mota probably weighs 170 pounds soaking wet.

Barry Bonds has knees like Jason Kidd's. The media makes you think they should be in an old folk's home or in a hearse.

Thats why I asked, got a piece of cartilage missing from my kneecap down to bone & I cant even run anymore, only 32 years old......debating surgery with only a 30% chance to work.

My first surgery was called a microfracture repair. It's the same surgery that Bonds and Kidd had (Amare Stoudamire, as well). Obviously, things worked out pretty well for Kidd. Not for Penny Hardway and Steven Davis, though.

The surgery didn't really help me and I've two more surgeries to scrape arthritis since then. I had never had a leg problem in my life until this popped up two years ago and now i'm facing the fact that im likely done with competetive sports.

I've done a lot of heavy squats and leg presses over the years, but the doctors really can't be sure that had anything to do with it.

Good luck with your knee.

Who gives a crap about the jerk? If you're that concerned about his knees, give him a phone call. I'm sure he'll talk to you. :missingte :missingte :missingte
