When you guys scalp, do you try to guarantee roughly the same payout regardless of who wins or do you try to maximize one side while minimizing the other?

Example, today I had the following scalp

NYM -144
Marlins +150

I ended up taking

Risk Win Team

<table x:str="" style="border-collapse: collapse; width: 276pt;" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="367"><col style="width: 68pt;" width="90"> <col style="width: 58pt;" width="77"> <col style="width: 150pt;" width="200"> <tbody><tr style="height: 10.5pt;" height="14"> <td class="xl24" style="height: 10.5pt; width: 68pt;" x:num="1440" height="14" width="90"> $ 1,440.00 </td> <td class="xl24" style="width: 58pt;" x:num="1000" width="77"> $ 1,000.00 </td> <td class="xl27" style="width: 150pt;" width="200">Mets</td> </tr> <tr style="height: 10.5pt;" height="14"> <td class="xl25" style="height: 10.5pt;" x:num="975" height="14"> $ 975.00 </td> <td class="xl25" x:num="1463"> $ 1,463.00 </td> <td class="xl26" style="width: 150pt;" width="200">Marlins</td> </tr> </tbody></table>

Guaranteeing $23 or $25 when I could have taken NYM $1440/$1000 and Florida $1000/$1500 for a potential win of $60 but also $0 if NYM wins.

Just wondering.

Usually not enough time to do an exact calculation. I slam in whatever I can get on each side.

what sean said...dontworry on number crunching you willmiss a few scalps that way. just get close and be done with it. in a perfect world put more on the overaly and set it up to break even on the right side line if you can tell which it is...

just bet the bad number and leave the sharp number alone, eventually you will be ahead. It may seenm riskier but your ROI will be higher in the end.

Looks like a dead scalp due to the pitcher change for the Mets or you got a ridiculous line on the Marlins. Hope you played it both pitchers.

To answer your question it depends. I go for equalizing payouts unless I have a strong lean when I will play for one side only.

I played it listed since I didn't want to get burned on a line change from an action play. However, it was after the change to Chan Ho, so it should be a good scalp. This is the third one in a week between these two books. clickngamble is sometimes way off the lines from 5dimes.

I like to equalize out. Set up a formula in excel and it will give you the amount to bet in seconds.
