In a room of stars, Michael Jordan proved he still shines the brightest. Poker icons and NBA legends packed Canterbury Park on Friday night September 8 for the Inaugural Trent Tucker Celebrity Poker Tournament benefiting the Trent Tucker Youth Program, but in the end Michael Jordan ended up with all the chips.

"I just came to have a good time and help the Trent Tucker Non-Profit Organization," said Jordan. "This was for fun, and I just played my cards. I didn't care if I won or lost," added Jordan, who donated back the first place prize money to the Trent Tucker Non- Profit Organization.

Jordan gained the chip lead early on the 85- person field, which featured a lengthy list of fellow NBA greats such as Scottie Pippen, Charles Oakley and Kevin Garnett along with a dozen poker professionals including Johnny Chan, Phil Hellmuth, and Greg Raymer. With Bravo's Celebrity Poker Host Phil Gordon announcing, Jordan took home the final pot and first place with pocket fives.

"It was a fantastic event. Everyone had a great time and we raised a lot of money," said Trent Tucker who this year added the poker tournament to his annual charitable golf outing (www.trenttucker.org). "It was nice to partner with a great team like Canterbury Park."

"We were thrilled to host this amazing collection of celebrities and poker stars for a fun evening, great cause, and exciting tournament" said Randy Sampson, president of Canterbury Park, which boasts the Midwest's largest poker room.

The tournament brought together the largest collection of NBA stars and poker players ever to compete in the same tournament, which was viewed by over 500 spectators. Tournament seats were available to the public for $2,500 with $2,000 going to the charity.

World Poker Store CEO Chuck Chastain, whose organization recruited the star-studded list of poker players for the tournament, stated, "We are very proud to work with Trent Tucker and Canterbury Park, and help make this happen for the Trent Tucker Youth Programs. It was an exciting night for everyone who attended, and we are looking forward to building upon this success next year."

September 8? So this article is from last fall? Just wondering since I'm too lazy to check online to see if it's really something recently.... or that billsfan is bringing up a 7 month old article for fun of it? :)

yes this article is six mos. old. I think the hoopology tournament at Live At The Bike web site is a free view.
LATB is dead now, but I think they left it up and that one is free to view.
In that tournament MJ busts out early, but you can see him play some hands and his hole cards (cam)

Like Father like Sons, Michael Jordan’s sons have Gambling Itch

Turns out that just like dad, NBA icon Michael Jordan’s sons enjoy gambling just like dear old dad does.

We have all heard the stories concerning the elder Jordan and his gambling escapades throughout his career.

During the Bulls' playoff run in 1993, Jordan was seen gambling in Atlantic City, New Jersey the night before a game against the New York Knicks where he supposedly lost $10,000 on one bet.

During that same year, author Richard Esquinas wrote a book claiming he had won $1.25 million from Jordan on the golf course.

Jordan once bet his teammates that his luggage would come off the plane first after they landed. It did, but it turns out he paid the luggage handlers to make sure.

Now according to SportsByBrooks, Jordan’s two sons are enjoying gambling as well, and losing in the process.

20-year-old Marcus Jordan and 21-year-old Jeff Jordan, who play for the UCF Knights basketball team, let the world know about it via a Marcus Twitter post after their adventures in Las Vegas last weekend.

Although this has since been deleted from his twitter account, SbB got a shot of it before it was removed; no doubt Dad had something to do with it.

Haze is a nightclub in the Aria Hotel and Casino City Center. How Marcus, who is only 20, got into the casino club is yet another question.

The Jordan brothers were in Vegas to visit the fantasy camp run by dear old dad at the Mirage Resort Casino.
