We were in decent shape to win last nights gameas a +140 dog, but the O's could not cash in on their offensive opportunities. Three games on tap for today.

Athletics Writeup

The Red Sox are coming off of two successful series against the arch-rival Yankees. In their most recent game, the Sox hit up Chien-Ming Wang so hard that the Yanks could not keep up against the lowly Julian Tavarez. Now, after a day off, the Sox cruise back to Fenway to face the intimidator, Joe Blanton. Actually, he's not much of an intimidator at all. With Schilling on the mound for the Sox tonight, the Sox expect to cruise against a dinged up Oakland team and their "average Joe" pitcher. Blanton has been pitching some lights out baseball, his last start being a complete game against Seattle.

Schilling is hittable. Even though the O's managed to score a mere 1 run against him, I am not convinced that Curt is back to his dominant ways. Tonight the A's have ample players to fill in for the injured Bradley and Swisher. This team is a dead-red kind of ball club, and if Schillings fastball is not sharp tonight, Oakland will bloop their way around the bases.

With a strong bullpen that wont blow the late innings, I expect the A's to keep this one within one run, and possibly slip away with the victory.

Royals Writeup
Well, we have been burned twice by the Royals this season, but the third time is always a charm. Tonight Bartolo Colon will try to power-pitch by a solid fastball hitting lineup in the Royals. While the Royals did struggle against Mark Buehrle about a week ago, Colon is a very different pitcher. This team will be presented with pitches to hit tonight. Colon has looked dominant thus far because he has faced two of the worst road teams in the league, Tampa and Seattle . Tonight we are getting great value on the Royals at home against another pitcher who has yet to prove he's back to his dominant ways.

Going for the Royals tonight is young stud, Zack Greinke. Against an Angels team that has become very accustomed to winning, Greinke should be able to sneak through six or seven innings. I don't see the Angels giving Greinke any respect tonight, and we should see this weak offense come out flat behind their ace. At +125, the Royals are a great home dog that I would never pass up.

Cardinals Writeup

We are going back to the well with Braden Looper tonight against Ben Sheets. In an almost identical situation, the Cardinals cashed a 10-2 win for us about 15 days ago. Tonight, the Cardinals get their second crack at Sheets, a guy they will be excited to see after losing three in a row. It's about time this team manned up and won a game after the untimely death of relief pitcher Josh Hancock. I expect them to come out tonight with more fire than they did yesterday against a pitcher they respect.

The Brewers are coming off of a blowout win against Kip Wells, and winning has never seemed easier. Despite his low ERA, the Brewers will definitely take Looper for granted with Sheets on the mound at home. Looper should continue to impress, and I am going to ride this wave one more time with a pitcher that has done nothing but win. With a lackadaisical Brewers team facing a hungry Cardinals lineup, we could witness another blowout against Sheets by the World Champs.

Good Luck.
