I will finally be graduating from college this Saturday. I made my last walk to class today, and it felt really weird. It sucks if you want to know the truth. I feel like the whole thing just passed me by. It sucks knowing that me and all my friends will be going off in different directions.

Do any of you guys around here remember your college days? Do things get better from this point on, or will I always be looking back remembering the "good ol' days?" Do you have any advice for a new college grad? What should I do now (besides get a job)? I'm not really having a party or going anywhere. Maybe I should, but I'm kind of broke.

Oh, and if anybody wants to give me a graduation gift, my Pokerstar's ID is destroyer_ak. :103631605

Life not only moves much faster now but goes downhill. You will start aching in places you never thought could ache. You will start growing a boiler which will evolve into a FUPA. Your erections will get less intense. You will start to lose your hair. You will look at college freshman when walking around campus and say "WOW, they look young."
Thats just a start.

Oh BTW congrats on your graduation.

I kind of felt like Winbet in college. I graduated 15+ years ago after going back, but I don't really miss it. Best advice is to keep your contacts current and be flexible in your job search. Alumni associations can help too.

Congrats. :aktion033

So what did you graduate in? I hope it isnt a mickey mouse degree from the Walt disney Tech. If so, it isnt worth a wank. Honours Degree in a Core subject from a Top University is the only respect anyone gets and deservedly so. Any other tossers should be Horse-Whipped.

If anyone tells us that life gets better after college either they are George Clooney or the Maloof's or they are the biggest liars you have ever met in your life. Where else can party like rock star on Tuesday in the middle of February and not give a shit about waking up at noon!

If you are planning on working for a corporation and not for yourself, try and get into management as quick as possible, best way to make money working for the man. Be open to relocating while you are young. People will tell you to spend and have good time, but be smart, save money for a downpayment and payoff any loans asap. Honestly, try and make as much money as you can, as quick as you can.

Congrats. IMO, you will look back fondly on your college days but if you look back on them as the good old days and so much better than current days, you are f*ed. No different than the guys that look back on high school as the best times of their lives. Think about those guys, you probably already know some and they have shit going for them. probably means you are stuck in a job and/or relationship you hate at the time.

As far as jobs go, figure out what you want to do (difficult, I know) and do whatever it takes to get into that profession. Sometimes it makes sense to take a lower paying job if the experience and/or end result is likely to be better for you. In essence, don't necessarily take the highest paying job you get. Be willing to move for your job.

It is always easier finding a job when you have a job, so if your first position isn't what you want, keep looking. The company that hired you likely doesn't give a shit about you, so don't be so terribly concerned with what they will think if you quit in 4 months.

And most of all, TRAVEL BEFORE YOU START WORKING. One of my biggest regrets is not travelling during school and after graduating. Just go, f*ing backpack around Europe. Money and jobs will be there when you return but you will always remember those trips and once you start working, your time will be much more limited.

I got a bachelor's degree in business management from a highly regarded business school in Florida, so it's no Mickey Mouse degree. :missingte

I'm gonna miss it, and I can't help but think I didn't get out enough and meet enough people. Oh well. I guess there isn't enough time in life to look back and have regrets.

Thanks for all of the congratulations! :banger:

Thanks. I have a management degree, so hopefully I'll be able to get in somewhere good. I would love to eventually have my own business, but I still have a lot of figuring out to do. Thanks for the advice on the money. I'll remember what you said.

Lots of good advice. I really appreciate you taking the time to share this with me. I currently have a job, so hopefully I won't feel as much pressure to take the first job that comes along, but I'm really looking to find something new. I've been with my current job for over 7 years, but the company is starting to go down the drain and there's no opportunity for me there. Figuring out what I want to do is the hard part.

First of all, congrats Stephen.

But yes, college is the best time of your life (depending, of course, on where you went to school). Don't let anyone tell you it gets better, because it doesn't -- it gets worse. Sure, you'll have more $$ now, but you'll also have a lot of responsibility.

I finished my undergrad degree roughly 9 years ago, and still look back & wish I were younger & back in college. And before u think I'm some loser for thinking that, I have a high-paying job (6 figures) & have flexibility in my career. I have a good life -- I take several vacations throughout the year, watch college football & hoops constantly. But it's not the same.

Be sure to keep in touch w/ all your college friends. We all went our different ways, but we still keep in touch & usually get together on 1 big trip a year -- since we're all in different parts of the country, we rotate regions every year.

Anyway, congrats on the graduation. I don't mean to scare you, but your life gets worse, not better. (But then again, I guess it depends on the type of person u are. As for me, I like partying, hanging out w/ friends, & just lettin' loose.)

Good luck in your future endeavors!!

Thanks. I appreciate your honesty. I definitely plan on keeping in touch with all of my friends. Taking a big trip once a year sounds like a great idea. You're not scaring me. I pretty much knew that things don't really go up from here, but at the same time I'm going to try to keep a positive outlook.

I guess it's fun to get all sorts of different commentary. I wouldn't expect anything less.

Just dont sit back on that bit of Bog Paper you got, there's plenty in front of you in the cue for most Jobs, play the humble card at interviews, always worth more points.

Business is one of the few degrees that will actually get you a job. Several of my friends have summer internships where they're making $25/hour. If you get involved with clubs and get some certifications you can make good money your first year and be making 6 figures within a few years. With a business degree and some certifications I can make as much money as you lose a year gambling.

But the guys that just slack off, get a 2.8 with no certifications, no clubs, no anything and then stroll into an interview and act like an idiot, they'll have a shitty job.

I graduated this past weekend. Feels good to be able to really just sit on my ass a couple days before getting into the real world (I start May 7). Congrats!
